Karen Elson married Jack White & is in the CITIZENS BAND

...in case anyone was wondering what their connection to the White Stripes was because they're opening for them tonight at Irving Plaza (June 19). Here's some shots of the Citizens Band at Highline Ballroom in NYC on June 12th....

Citizens Band

Gothamist has an interview with the band from the same day. Other band members include Craig Wedren and Angela McCluskey.

Speaking of Angela who sometimes sings with Telepopmusik...

...Christophe Hetier (aka Antipop), 1/3 of the musical masterminds known as French electronic group Telepopmusik, is spinning a secret, free and one-time-only set at the Hotel Rivington lobby this Thursday, June 21st from 10pm throughout the night.
Craig just played a show at Pianos on June 14th. Did anyone go?

P.S. Icky Thump Records will be streaming on June 20th.

Thanks for the heads up BV. Even more of a reason not to show up until 10:20 pm tonite. 20 minutes before the Stripes go on should be plenty of time to get up close and set for what is sure to be a rip roaring good show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2007 5:12 PM

the stripes are suppose to go on at 10:30. And to anonymous 5:!2 why do you keep bragging about how you are going to push your way to the front?

I'm guessing that band is about style over substance.

i saw craigs set last week at pianos, he was amazing. he was joined by amy miles of amy miles band and mason dixon (who also played).. but the best part was the jealous girlfriends! they played all new material. this was the second show of their three week residency at pianos, i went to both shows and plan on being there tomorrow night for the last show which is all covers. anyone else into these guys? they posted some pictures from last week on their myspace blog. the projections and clouds are sweet.

The Citizens Band is just the Rich Wives Dress-Up Club. Utter nonsense.

The Citizens Band needs to go away already. What was once a unique band with highly concepted shows addressing religion, environment, healthcare and other issues has become an empty excuse for the fame-hungry to dress up and sing onstage.

i think you are a little jealous, i know these people and they're certainly not fame hungry, yes they have recieved fame due to random events but not one seeks fame. Its a diverse group. There is a queens school teacher, a supermodel, a soap actor, a computer nerd, trapeze artist, a mime. they all believe in this band and i think its certainly easy to say they're fame hungry. I never see these guys out and about. get your facts straight mt friend
