"Catch a rare performance by Harmony Rockets at The Annex on Wednesday June 20. Tickets are available at the venue, or just click here. Doors open at 8pm, the running order is as follows:" [says Mercury Rev]

8:30pm John Devries (Agitpop)
9:30pm Harmony Rockets
10:15pm Silent League
11:15pm Hopewell

According to one helpful source:

It’s all the full-time, core members of Mercury Rev -- Jonathan Donahue (singer), Grasshopper (guitarist), and Jeff Mercel (drums/keys). I honestly don’t know anything more then that. I think they put out some songs under the name Harmony Rockets years ago and maybe it’s a side project.

i might be wrong but i'm pretty sure these guys played the bowery within the last month or two. i asked them what all the mercury rev stickers on their gear were about, and they gave me the story. it's good stuff - check it out.

they have two releases as side project that i know of. the first is sort of spacy and droney and more experimental than other mercury rev releases-i believe its just one track and may be improvised. the second ep is terrible imo and sounds like mercury rev recorded a song that seemed like a good idea when they were talking about it (a Willy Wonka movie cover song?) but ended up sounding like they're trying way too hard to be cute.

anyway, did anybody make it? how did it compare to mercury rev shows?
