This can't be happening. I have Wilco at Warsaw.

Sunday: The Nuge
Monday: Wilco
Tuesday: Ryan Adams
Sounds like an alright "white guys with guitars" NYC trifecta to me :)
As for you cats who are seeing Wilco in Brooklyn on the same night as RA is playing, ahem, across the river?
Have fun ;)

Can someone please explain Ryan Adams to me. Seriously, I've given him a chance but I just don't get it. His songs are ok but seem, i dunno, kinda plain. And I also don't think his voice is anything special either. I mean, he's not bad but I think he's kinda WPLJ.
Am I wrong?
Can someone please explain his merits?
Posted by Christopher | June 21, 2007 5:28 PM
Manu Chao > Wilco > Ryan Adams
Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2007 5:29 PM
I'd love Wilco at Warsaw, so I'd trade you. I'm sure I can snag some Ryan tix somewhere.
I guess post your e-mail here if interested.
I will do my best to make this happen, as I know a few inroads for tix, without sounding, well, pompous/jackass.
Thanks. OTIS

fuck.. same date as Wilco.
oh well i saw Ryan at Tribeca Performing Arts Center aka BMCC two winters ago.
never seen wilco. and at Warsaw.
can't pass that up.
i just hope someone records this show like they did the Koko show.

suckers.
hahahah. this is funny cause it's so true.
but it makes me mad at the same time.
it's alright though.
on tuesday night, i'm gonna be so close to Nels I could lick his balls.
take that.
.......
Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2007 5:51 PM
i wouldnt be so smug cause
wilco@redbank > wilco@hammerstein
Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2007 5:57 PM
"Can someone please explain his merits?"
nah man. i'd rather not.
cause then it'd probably lead to some argument about how you don't get simple good rock n roll/country and how i'm an idiot who has shit taste in music.
we're better off bonding over a band we both really like.
don't sweat it.
you don't like Ryan? cool.
get off it then.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2007 6:36 PM
"warsaw sucks anyway"
nonsense. i'm gonna have a shitload of fun on tuesday.
i don't give a FUCK what you think about Warsaw.
Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2007 6:39 PM
Dear Anon @ 5:58.
I was actually looking forward to an intelligent discussion about sound and songwriting and wasn't trying to criticize anyone's personal taste.
I'm actually a big fan of alt-rock/country and think that RA can write some decent songs.
Sorry if I offended you, I would never call anyone an idiot for their taste in music...unless of course you liked My Chemical Romance.
Posted by Christopher | June 21, 2007 6:42 PM
I am a fan of Ryan and Wilco but I'd rather see Manu Chao any day. Way more fun especially at Prospect Park. It will be a blast! Ryan tends to disappoint sometimes.

word on the internet streets today is this is a record release party and no tickets will be made available to the public.

Why would a private party be listed as a tour date? A lot of artists play private parties, and corporate gigs. They usually don't want people to know about that stuff because they don't want to be seen as corporate whores.
I saw Robert Randolph play at a party for a speaker manufacturer. You can bet your ass it wasn't listed as a tour date on any websites.
Posted by Kurt C. | June 22, 2007 10:44 AM
so, i might just be really dense here, but does anyone know where to get tix for Hiro other than the pre-sale page?
Posted by keen | June 22, 2007 10:49 AM
Damn, that would suck if it's industry only. Not to mention, there'd probably be a bunch of dis-interested people there talking and pissing Ryan off so he only gets through 3 songs.
Oh well, I only live 3 blocks from Hiro so maybe he'll swing by and finish his set. Anyone is welcome to swing by, just grab some beers on the way over.

yeah sorry to break it to all the people calling bullshit, but this show is indeed a private party.
Just because a fan/forum website lists a show as a tourdate doesn't mean it is set in stone to be a public show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2007 3:04 PM
please can we stop all this nonsense you stupid fucks. Look here is the deal. Hammerstein Ballroom sucks giant ass. It is an impersonal space that really does not allow for an intimate connection with the band. Especially with a band like Wilco who is touring behind a record with songs much better heard in a smaller setting. The idea that the sound or intimacy btw Hammerstein and Warsaw can even be compared is ridiculous. Warsaw while not the best place for a show is definately not the worst and it is certainly heads and tails above Hammerstein. Unless you are in the back of Warsaw the sound is fine. Plus the intimacy you are getting in this place really does outweigh a lot of other factors. So any of you idiots claiming the show at Hammerstein is going to be better are just being delusional or worse bitter that you could not get tickets to Warsaw. Oh and yeah funny how Warsaw tickets are going for huge amounts if available at all while you can practically give away the Hammerstein tickets.
That being said, sure it sucks for Wilco Warsaw people that Ryan is playing the same night but i mean cmon its Ryan Adams. Hiro sucks first of all and Ryan plays 1000 times a year in the city and in not so much bigger places. I can bet that before this year is over he will have played a number of times in the city. I am sure there will be a town hall show or 2 in there.
Whats even funnier is that the hiro show tickets became available around 11am. The information and password is pretty much all over the net at this point and the show is STILL NOT sold out. That says a lot.

"Hiro sucks first of all and Ryan plays 1000 times a year in the city and in not so much bigger places."
let's have a rundown of the shows ryan has headlined in new york in the past few years, shall we?
dec'06 - town hall x3
june'06 - bowery
sept'05 - beacon x2
sept'04 - beacon x2
dec'03 - webster hall
july'03 - battery park
oct'02 - beacon theater
march'02 - roseland
12 headlining shows in 5 years. thats a bit far off from 1,000 a year if you ask me.
Posted by ohseptember | June 23, 2007 6:04 PM
Sold out now.
It sold out pretty quickly considering the availability wasn't announced until this morning, and it is a beautiful saturday where most people are not on their computers.
Posted by Kurt C. | June 23, 2007 6:42 PM
...it is certainly heads and tails above Hammerstein.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2007 3:39 PM
The correct figure of speech you were looking for is 'head and shoulders above'.
Posted by word to your mother | June 23, 2007 7:14 PM
"i'd rather see wilco at hammerstein than warsaw"
Well then you are a complete idiot
"12 headlining shows in 5 years. thats a bit far off from 1,000 a year if you ask me."
You left out a few but of course 1000 was hyperbole but used simply to make the point he plays many more times here than most other bands and he will be doing a number of shows this year in the city at small venues
"It sold out pretty quickly considering the availability wasn't announced until this morning, and it is a beautiful saturday where most people are not on their computers."
Wrong. Word had spread last night that they were going on sale today and people were still at their computers. Fact is the show did not sell out that quickly for a small place.
"The correct figure of speech you were looking for is 'head and shoulders above'."
Actually Sherlock, the phrase heads and tails is correct as well
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2007 7:59 PM
I am not a Wilco fan, so I don't care to tickets, but Hammerstein is far better than Warsaw. The sound at Warsaw sucks, period. Bonus points for the great food, but I don't care to concerts to eat. Not saying that Hamerstein has good sound, but the sound at Warsaw has to be one of the worst in the city.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2007 9:33 PM
warsaw is the worst in the city - apparently anonymous 7:59 doesn't know that yet.....too bad. you'll wish you were at hammerstein after seeing what it's really like at warsaw
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2007 10:31 PM
Thank God anon 10:31pm is here to tell me and everyone else about Warsaw.
Posted by Brian | June 23, 2007 11:05 PM
hahahah.
you guys are so 4th grade is funny.
Wilco at Warsaw is going to be FUN
regardless of what you guys have to say.
i'll see Ryan later on this year.
i won't see Wilco at a such a small setting
in a really really long time.
especially here in nyc.
besides, i already i saw Ryan twice already
again, Town Hall is not that big a venue, especially if you're on the floor level.
so yeah Hiro might be smaller
but i doubt it's enough to make such a big difference.
all i know is i haven't seen Wilco ever
and seeing them at Warsaw is gonna rule.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2007 11:50 PM
it's*
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2007 11:53 PM
11:50 i am laughing along with you at these idiots. They are just seething jealous morons that could not get into Warsaw so they are slagging it. It is the same dopes who couldnt get into the stripes show last week at irving and then saying oh irving sucks..msg will be so much better
Just dummies
And yes above moron i actually have been to warsaw many times as well as Hammerstein but i doubt you have saying such stupid comments
And as said above better than myself the proof is in the pudding. Tickets for Wilco at Warsaw are currently going for much higher prices than both the Hammerstein show and the Ryan Adams Hiro show. And the one thing Scalping prices do gauge is the level of interest people have in a show and which are the most sought after tickets
Just to add as well
Tuesday night is gonna be amazing
Sinead O Connor at Joe's Pub(which by the way are going for even more money than all the other shows)
and then off to Warsaw to see Wilco
2 hottest shows of the night and the week so nyah nyah and go fuck yourself( i know childish but it makes the dummies livid-just watch)

"2 hottest shows of the night and the week"
Wrong. The hottest shows of the week are Manu Chao on Tuesday and then Mano Chao on Wednesday. Instead of listening to music Pitchforkmedia tells you to listen to (Wilco), why doesn't anyone just listen to music they really like?
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2007 12:55 PM

Wow, I clicked on something about Ryan Adams and there is a discussion about Wilco. I got RA tickets, so I that's all I care about.
One thing is for sure, there were be a lot more (and lot more beautiful) women at Manu Chao than at Wilco.

^^^doubtful. Now if you say fat older women then i would agree with you.

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2007 12:09 PM
Fat older women at a Manu Chao concert? What planet do you live on? If anything, the fat older women crowd will gravitate toward Wilco. Hipster heffers from the midwest now residing in Williamsburg love Wilco.
What time do you think Ryan Adams will hit the stage?
