it says they found his body in the massachusetts water. he's been missing since saturday. everything else is uncertain.
my condolences to his family, friends, and band. saw him at sxsw and at mercury lounge. he was a really brilliant drummer.

Speaking of Paris Hilton, she reported for jail shortly after the MTV Movie Awards, two days ahead of the deadline she had been given. Bitch got a two-person cell in an overcrowded facility all to herself!

our thoughts are with the band - tragic.

Yeah he was a great drummer. Why always the good ones. Why could it not have been Conor Oberest or Beth Ditto for christs sakes

Shit, wishing people dead because they're untalented? That's harsh. Can't we just wish them mute?
Condolences to the band, family, etc.

Anon 358, wishing someone dead is not only tacky, but bad karma. Just because you don’t appreciate Conor’s music is no reason to wish him dead. In case you’re not aware, you’re not the center of the world, jackass.
And Anon 541, perhaps you think Conor is untalented but I think the 7 sold out nights at Town Hall speak volumes.
On a more important note, the news of Pike’s death is tragic. Such a terrible story...my condolences to his family.

"you think Conor is untalented but I think the 7 sold out nights at Town Hall speak volumes."
Yeah, everyone knows popularity is a sure indicator of talent.

Britney Spears sold out Madison Square Garden, therefore she is more talented than Conor.

exactly what about bright eyes music leads people to believe he is "untalented?"
Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2007 8:05 PM
bright eyes is a decently talented songwriter who has a tendancy to take himself too seriously, which is grating to a lot of folks, his whiny voice doesn't help him all that much. He was overhyped as the second coming of Bob Dylan when he arrived, and people who justifiably don't like his emo-country aesthetic are annoyed by that and call him untalented. It is not a big mystery. It's not awful music, but it's also nothing special.

hey anon 6:06, calling someone a "jackass" is bad karma as well!
Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2007 8:35 PM
wow...jeff buckley died 10 years ago last week i think and he drowned...and know pike...erie

This doesn't seem to be the best place for you fatbodies to have your pissing contests. Someone young and talented died. Give it a rest for crying out loud
Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2007 9:24 PM
Hahaha! And calling people fatbodies totally proves you're above it all.
As for people getting pissy in a conversation about Pike's death, well...this is the Internet. People piss on everything. And it's not like the rest of the links included in this post are really conducive to a respectful and somber frame of mind.

everyone taking the time to wish death on someone else or take time to even pay a moment of attention to the jerk who made the comment are all going to hell. do ANY of you have any dignity? the death of a person is something to be mourned, not something that luanches debate over whether conor oberst is popular or not. reading this made me sick.
