The park is right in the middle of the East River, the city and the river swirl serenely around you - you could throw rocks at the Midtown Skyline. And there's this ruined castle-like 1850's city smallpox hospital [ http://rihs.us/landmarks/renwick-1.jpg ] down there too (legendarily haunted). Take the F train all the way there (there's a "Roosevelt Island" stop), and bring your guitars & blankets & folding chairs & your beverages & your hibachis & charcoal & stuff to grill & whatnot.

Who do you recommend at this show, and will they be good playing acoustic?

There's two different "Woods", just so people know. I believe "The Woods" are a rock band with a shorter, bearded fellow on guitar/vocals, while "Woods" are an acoustic/folk duo featuring Jeremy Earl of FuckIt Tapes, Meneguar, and Shepherds.

true on the 'woods' clarification - it's definitely the group that shares mems w. meneguar. last time I saw them they were a three-piece, with meneguar's lead singer on guitar and the drummer on lead vox.

I think the order is (generally) that the more well known the group is, the later they will be playing.

shooting spires is bj from parts & labor

tk webb should be great acoustic since he'll definitely be in his element

Aa is planning a boombox extravaganza

I think they are still adding other groups - maybe the wowz among them

let's hope for good weather!

Meneguar's lead singer Jarvis actually plays drums in Woods. He's also the drummer in Wooden Wand and the Vanishing Voice.

Cristian (Meneguar's second guitarist) plays second guitar in Woods.

Jeremy Earl is the lead singer of Woods. He plays drums in Meneguar, and he also used to be the singer of the best incarnation of Books Lie.

there is no order. the idea of this show is that there's no hierarchy, and as few rules as possible. last year Matt and Kim played third of 15.
