VIDEO: Keren Ann - 'Lay Your Head Down'

I was wondering if she any videos for her new album. Just found this...

directed by camille vivier

I've been listening to the new record, and I love Keren, but I don't think she's put out a truly great whole album yet. That said, most of what she does is, it at the least, perfectly listenable. Unfortunately the above video is probably the song on the new album that rubbed me the wrong way the most - still listenable, but it sounds like she's trying a little too hard to be (I'm bad at 'name that tune', so bear with me...) Mazzy Star or Jesus & Mary Chain or Velvet Underground or ?? -- hand claps, harmonica & choir included. Maybe they forced her to write this track to have something even remotely radio-friendly?

Keren is on tour.

i wonder if she'll be as bitchy on the rest of her tour as she was at the vancouver show. people were actually walking out before she finished her 3rd song.

she started off by blaming the club staff for being incompetent during their sound check, calling them drunks. then later confessed that she and her band spent the whole day drinking as well. she stopped the show in the middle on her 3rd song to complain about an odd hum coming off one of the pedals. any professional would've just played through it, but she used it as another reason to berate the staff.

it really was too bad. we were really excited about the show, despite the scathingly self-centered and confrontational interview in the local paper.

it's as if she was looking for any excuse to have a bad show. maybe she should instead look to her lack of grace, manners and humor.

i still like the new album, but i would've asked for my money back if i wasn't on the guestlist.

!?!? i paid for my ticket in vancouver and thought keren was excellent .... she was charming and friendly and although obviously concerned about the sound problems, not bitchy at all

i think she's great and think it's a shame that she's not more famous/successful

"Not Going Anywhere" is one of the only perfect records to be released in the 00s, and it had nothing to do with Mazzy Star. "Lay Your Head Down," which I love in a less intense way, does. That's fine, too.
