you can buy tickets for the White Stripes show

I just found out that tickets for the White Stripes show will be available at the Irving Plaza box office on Saturday @ 10 am. It's going to be run just like the Wilco sale was. Yes, you can also win them at the Virgin store, and possibly on the radio, but at least a bunch of the tickets will be sold this way.

Wow, I bet there are people lining up right now...

What a pain. Not everyone can camp out for concert tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 4:35 PM

Oh well, at least I'll seem them at Austin City Limits in September.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 4:36 PM

"What a pain. Not everyone can camp out for concert tickets"

yeah, we just pay $1000 on eBay for them. right win?

Posted by regine | June 13, 2007 4:41 PM

well if it's being run like the Wilco show, there should be an online pre-sale, no...?

Posted by MBF | June 13, 2007 4:41 PM

i used to camp out for concert tickets on a monthly basis 10 years ago. if you REALLY want to go to a show, you will camp. or you'll pay for a scalped ticket. end of story.

you youngsters have it sooooooo easy.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 4:43 PM

im shomer fing shabbos man!

Posted by tk | June 13, 2007 4:44 PM

That's right, Regine. Or as someone who attended the show at which Win made that comment and normally would attend the White Stripes Fillmore show, you can just plan to be online as soon as they go on sale and get your tickets. I can;t think of a single show when I wanted tickets and got to my computer on time when I was unable to get them online.

Posted by Friend of Win | June 13, 2007 4:44 PM

Hey there, Win: they aren't selling the tickets online--So fuck off.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 4:54 PM

I already have my White Stripes tickets. 1000 dollars for the pair??
Now let those Mccartney nerds try to diss this show.
hmm let me see,,,white stripes ripping it up at this small show..or Mccartney playing Say Say Say

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 5:02 PM

Friend of Win, never tried to get tix online only to see it sell out within minutes? Really? No...seriously?

Posted by Drugs Delaney | June 13, 2007 5:03 PM

I never get this. Same with Yankees playoff tickets. Just be on time online and refresh frequently. I went to the Judson AF shows; just got tickets for Wolf Parade....got New Pornos today....It's just not that difficult.

Posted by Friend of Win | June 13, 2007 5:22 PM

Win, pay attention here...

THERE ARE NO ONLINE SALES FOR THE WHITE STRIPES SHOW AT IRVING PLAZA!!!!!!

can you hear me? or do I need to turn it up?

Posted by FrixFrixFrix | June 13, 2007 5:27 PM

Hey Frix, Frix:

You're missing the point. Win suggested that all NYers buy their tickets from scalpers for $1,000.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 5:31 PM

say say say what you want!

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 5:36 PM

"white stripes ripping it up at this small show"

Well, Jack will be ripping it up. Meg will be up on stage with a confused look and her face trying to figure out the simple beat.

I have seen the WS once in concert, never again (unless it's free).

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 5:37 PM

Okay, so the week of an obsessive music fan goes something like this:
Monitor Ticketweb all day from work in the hopes of snagging a Franz ticket - while reading and posting on BV's site - and ignoring work I'm supposed to be paid to do. Then, go and wait in the rain overnight for McCartney tickets while cops threaten to beat me and haul me to jail. In between, sneak off to Virgin Records and submit 100 entries for White Stripes tickets. Skip dinner and line up early for McCartney show and afterward (fleeing from the encore song "Freedom"), hightail it to the Bowery for the Franz show. Then straight to Irving to sleep on the sidewalk for a few days for the White Stripes. Try to explain all this to my employers. And my wife.

Maybe there's an easier way.

Posted by drewo | June 13, 2007 5:37 PM

Bravo, Drewo.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 5:41 PM

Sure there is an easier way.
Cut out the McCartney show altogther cause it is going to be a snoozer and mainly feature songs from his terrible new cd. Plus even if you did go to both you would have to leave a lot earlier than the last song to catch Franz. McCartney wont go on till 8:45-9 even though Highline says 8:30. Franz will go on for sure around 9:30-9:35pm. And even if you did wait out yesterday it would not be in the rain. If you were smart and went out there even till around 5:30pm you would have gotten a voucher they gave out and you did not have to come back till noon today to get yout tickets. Skip Virgin altogether cause they are giving out only a few tickets if not just one pair. If you show up to Irving Sat morning you should be able to get a ticket if it is anything like the Wilco sale.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2007 5:48 PM

I'm just getting them online. Screw the line.

i just saw people on line already.

Posted by Anonymous | June 14, 2007 3:36 PM

people are not in line already. I was just over there and nobody was in line.

Posted by Anonymous | June 14, 2007 3:56 PM

of course nobody is in line yet. It's only Thursday. Nobody will be in line tomorrow. If they do, they are morons. You'll be able to get tix if you show up by 9am on Sat. Guaranteed.

Posted by Anonymous | June 14, 2007 4:20 PM

Yeah try what this idiot above says. Show up at 9am and see if you get a ticket. Remember that virgin has a block they are giving away plus many of the tickets are being given out to industry people as it is a record release party and going to have a very big industry showing. I dont know exactly how many are being sold to the public but it is definately not a huge amount. Of course this is also probably one of the hottest bands in america right now playing a very small show .So yeah show up at 9am and good luck. My guess is you will be outside the night of the show along with this fool above begging to scalp someones plus one.

Posted by Anonymous | June 14, 2007 5:03 PM

who cares about this band.....if radiohead or someone important was playing at irving plaza, i would definitely line-up to get tickets...not white stripes thank you

Posted by idiots | June 14, 2007 6:44 PM

never been to one of these big band in a small venue ticket events, what are the odds of someone getting tickets if they show up at like 5am? or is this strictly for the camping out friday night and peeing in the street crowd?

Posted by sticky bump | June 14, 2007 7:31 PM

@sticky bump

I was gonna get there at 5am on saturday too. I think there will be tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | June 14, 2007 8:22 PM

cursive is playing at maxwell's on july 20th! get your tickets to that instead of this show.....only 15 dollars!

Posted by silly people | June 15, 2007 6:14 AM

Anyone know the capacity for this venue? Do you really think 5am is necessary? What about a 7am arrival?

Posted by L | June 15, 2007 11:05 AM

yeah man, i'm going to do 7am. when is everyone else going so i can get a rough idea....

Posted by uggh | June 15, 2007 11:33 AM

it only holds 1200 peeps.

if i can get into this show i'll give away my MSG tix.

Posted by sticky bump | June 15, 2007 2:38 PM

"if i can get into this show i'll give away my MSG tix."

but the msg show has 'grinderman' opening for them. effin' nick cave!

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2007 2:58 PM

oh yeah, that's a good point.

nevermind.

Posted by sticky bump | June 15, 2007 3:07 PM

People got in line for Wilco @ Warsaw tix at noon for the 1PM onsale and got tix, right? And Irving's a hell of a lot bigger than the Warsaw, so surely....

Posted by Shep | June 15, 2007 4:01 PM

I think people got to irving at 1pm for a 1pm onsale and they got tix.

Warsaw and Irving are around the same size.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2007 6:31 PM

I just walked by and their are a whole two people outside. Whoohoo!

Posted by Alex | June 15, 2007 10:02 PM

I just saw four thousand rednecks.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2007 11:47 PM

Two people outside at 10pm? Wow, if they want the tix that bad, they can have them. I'm enjoying my nice comfy bed and will see them in the morning.

Posted by anon | June 16, 2007 1:35 AM

walked by after work just now at 4am i could only see 5 people

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2007 4:27 AM

my friend got there at 7, still hasnt gotten his and its 1145.. and he says theres a boatload of people behind him.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2007 11:22 AM

Got two tickets - got there at around 6:00 am, was 141st in line.

They started giving out numbers around 10:15 am, in groups of 25. Then, they let those 25 people into Irving Plaza, where the "yell captain" or whatever you call her tried to pimp overpriced refreshments to the loyal fans, then they called the numbers in in groups of ten, and you had to hand over your driver's license, pay $60, and you got a voucher good for 2 tickets the night of the show.

I'm starting to wonder whether or not these anti-scalping measures are even worth all the trouble...

Posted by MARLOW | June 16, 2007 11:53 AM

Got there at 5:30 and got home at 11:30. I was number 106. I bought a $3 coke too.

Posted by Alex | June 16, 2007 11:58 AM

got there 8:30 and got shut out with at least 100 people in front of me.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2007 12:27 PM

Got there around 5AM and got two tix. Still I would have much rather tried my luck online. This hardly prevents scalping as long as people have plus ones. If they sold will call only tickets online and they let you enter the name of your plus one at the time of the purchase like they did with the Stones Beacon shows, almost all scalping would be eliminated.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2007 1:03 PM

Any chance I could there there in an hour and get tix?

Posted by Chris | June 16, 2007 1:34 PM

People who got there at 7 got shut out. we got there at 6 and were #170-171 in line....the line went almost all the way around the block to the subway entrance. there were 500 tickets. a lot of people got shut out.

Posted by Josh | June 16, 2007 2:40 PM

i think the number sold was closer to 400.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2007 3:03 PM

we got there at a quarter to six and got our tickets. aweeeeesome

why does the live nation weekly newsletter say that tickets to the white stripes show go onsale on tuesday, at 5pm?

are there gonna be last minute tickets available?

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2007 4:09 PM

got there right at 7 and was one of the last 15 or so (did they let anyone in after stopping at 11:15 or 11:30?) to land tix. agree that only 400-500 were sold this morn. so the rest go industry? wiggity whack.

Posted by Shep | June 16, 2007 4:16 PM

I got there at 7:30 and was one of the last to get tickets. They were taking only 5 at a time at noon, which is about when I got my tickets.

Posted by Alissa | June 16, 2007 5:10 PM

I got there at around 7:15 or so and when I got my tickets, I heard the "yell captain" say that people who didn't get tickets that wanted to wait would have a chance to get Beastie Boys tickets at McKerren Pool or something. I'm not sure if that actually happened or not, but I got my White Stripes tickets so I'm happy!

Posted by P Lee | June 16, 2007 6:11 PM

I got to Irving at 6 am Saturday and was 133rd in line. I got my 2 tickets and made it out of there by 11:30ish....Next time I bring a folding chair...I forgot how hard pavement is even if I do have a fat ass.

Posted by Russ | June 16, 2007 7:34 PM

I was the last one to get irving plaza tix for the white stripes =]

they called me in individually =p
damn were people mad.

Posted by Alen | June 16, 2007 7:38 PM

I got there at 7ish and was number 200! I got two tickets!

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2007 7:38 PM

Some of these reports are contradictory. My story: got in line at 7:30 AM this morning and was brought in, with a group of 5, to get tickets a few minutes after 12:00 PM. I doubt there were very many after us, but I saw another group of five or two go in.

Alen: what time did you get in line, and what time did they call you in to get your tickets?

Posted by Greg | June 16, 2007 8:33 PM

i'm still there right now having a soda pop with Jack and his sister/wife....!!!!!

which means I AM NUMBER #1

not only will i get a ticket but Meg said i could be her best friend! for free!

Posted by theDude | June 16, 2007 9:15 PM

I'm going to be first in line tomorrow!

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2007 11:14 PM

That other line was for the Beastie Boys???

Someone said it was a line for methadone!

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2007 12:05 AM

Well i guess that idiot was right huh? hahahaha i feel bad for anyone who listened to that schmuck

I feel bad for anyone who didnt get tickets. This is gonna be one sick show.
And yes they only sold a small amount to the public. Virgin got some and the rest went to industry people. And no they are not releasing anymore tickets. That notice on the Live Nation website was a mistake
