Zach Galifianakis doing NYMAG event w/ BAND OF HORSES + 2007 Tour Dates
Band of Horses @ Primavera 2007 (CRED)

A whole month before Band of Horses play with Modest Mouse at Keyspan Park, they'll be doing a show at Hiro Ballroom that is also a "Bad Art Auction" with comedian Zach Galifianakis for NY Magazine's next hip event...
Buy art for a good cause. Zach Galifianakis helps us to curate a lineup of artwork that will make you wince, writhe, and wonder why its not already in your living room. Zach will take us through an evening of art that he's created, bought, found, stolen and maybe even inspired. He'll be joined by Band of Horses, at HIRO ballroom. All proceeds of the auction will go to New York Cares.$30-includes-NY-Magazine-subscription tickets are on sale. Band of Horses tour dates below...

I just want to see Band of Horses. Already have NY magazine subscription. Don't need 2

I know that for the Of Montreal show you could go to a NYMag site and cancel your subscription for a $10 refund. Of course, I haven't received mine yet, so I'm not sure if it actually works...

Band of Horseshit.

It works. They just refund the money to your credit card.
I got my tiket. I knew they were going to do something here better than playing that other show with Modest Mouse.

Its not an actual ticket. They said they would put you on a "list." That seems like they're not garanteeing that you'll get in. Some people dont like to get there right when doors open. Not interested in auction, they just want to see the band. I get a feeling that they will overbook the place forcing people to stand in line even if you're on "the list." Seems like they just want to sell subscriptions and dont care if they overbook the place. Hopefully someone can tell me otherwise then I'll buy one.

When they say 'list', think of it as 'will call'. They're not going to take your money and shut you out if you show up late. Jesus

why arent they listed on the site or am i blind..?
Posted by lauren | June 26, 2007 4:42 PM
Oh believe me, I'd like to think of it as Will-Call only they're not calling it Will-Call. They call it "the list" like its as if you're trying to get into some exclusive club that you can't get into. And when they say "auction" that means a lot of money is going to get thrown around. Lot of so-called VIPs with money looking to be seen. If its Will-Call then call it Will-Call, otherwise I'm not assuming anything because you know what assuming makes.

Hey - I'm the producer of this event. We do the list thing to keep people from Ebay'ing their tickets. It actually makes a lot more work for us, but since we normally have a band that plays a larger venue than whatever we are using, we try to avoid any scalping.
And yes, you won't see direct references to the band on the site just yet, we're getting that all up and out there tomorrow.
Thanks dudes

Well there you have it. This guy seems pretty legit. He did say he was the producer, after all, and he did use the term "dudes" to get on even level with us.

This is what I read on their website two days ago:
"Zach will take us through an evening of art that he's created, bought, found, stolen and maybe even inspired. He'll be joined by Band of Horses, at HIRO ballroom."
... and now it changed to...
"Zach will take us through an evening of art that he's created, bought, found, stolen and maybe even inspired. After all the art is sold, a band of fellow Carolinians of Zachs (and one of our all-time favorite bands) will play an intimate set for those lucky enough to get in to the Auction."
Band of Horses are Carolinians? Aren't they from Seattle? I want my money back.

I knew I woke up too early today. Myspace says they are from Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. It gotta be true if Myspace says so, right? I don't want my money back anymore... I'm finally gonna see BoH!
Posted by Eduardo | June 27, 2007 6:20 AM
It's BofH, don't worry. They have a blurred press photo on the web site. If you google image-search Band of Horses, it's one of the first press photos that comes up. Not too tough, people.
And for the guy who is scared of guest lists... why so worried about the word "list?" They're only used at practically every live event in town for someone or another. If you're paying in advance and getting a confirmation, you're getting in. So paranoid!

Anyone know of they'll play a full set? What's happened in the past with other acts at these NYMag thingys?
Posted by Anon | June 27, 2007 9:10 AM
They will play a full set.
Of Montreal played a full set for our Karaoke party. Man Man played a full set for our Vegan Dim Sum Chinatown party...
And yes, BoH was from Seattle, but now they are in S. Carolina. Zach is in N. Carolina, so I had to write "Carolinians."
I'm changing the site over to be normal BoH info today, we just launched a few things a little too soon yesterday.

Thanks for the info BV.
Edward - the Man Man dinner was incredible! Our table mates were a blast, the food was good and man man's performance was so much fun. will there be open bar at this one too?

Hey Esscee,
So glad you liked the Man Man Dinner party. You would not believe how crazy that was to pull off. We had 3 translators, bribes, cops, all kinds of stuff to deal with to make it go. I was SO impressed with Man Man. those guys are my heros. If you happen to be coming to the McCarren Pool PArty this weekend, I'm giving them a really special present just before their set.
Anyway, the open bar thing... I'm TRYING to get a deal with the venue. They are really being tough on the bar sales, but at the very least I'm gonna work to get us a drink special or something.
Open bar at a Band of Horses show... oh my...
