Horse poolCongrats to those who won tickets to see Band of Horses @ Hiro Ballroom tonight (July 10, 2007), and I can finally confirm that, yes, Band of Horses are playing the free show at McCarren Pool on July 22nd. M.I.A. is not playing it - she was for a second or something - until she chose Siren (and Studio B) instead.

Note: Band of Horses are not playing McCarren Pool with Modest Mouse. Check BOH' Myspace page for more tour dates.

sorry to be a hater, but band of horses are a terrible live band.

do people already forget that they were one of the few bands whose show was actually moved from webster hall to the bowery ballroom?

who's playing on the 15th?

Hmmm. Maybe you should have leaked this info after BoH played the show tonight, BV. I mean: the Hiro gig is a benefit show for New York Cares. But then again: I am an asshole who is getting in for free.

any idea who is on the rest of the show on the 22nd?

Moving a show from Webster to Bowery means the band is a terrible live band? I hope there are actual reasons for such a logic... like you went to their show and it sucked.

I am gonna go to both!

if a band puts on a good live show, i think it would be safe to assume that more people would like to go see it. moving a show from webster to bowery means not so many people wanted to go see your show.. which very well/probably means you dont put on the greatest show. pretty simple.

site says 8pm.. is that doors or auction starting?? and something was said by one of the organizers about trying to make it an open bar evening, any word on that?? thanks..

Isn't Bowery bigger than Webster????????????

Bowery is not bigger than Webster (for the poster above me). But let's not forget that Band of Horses had TWO shows at Webster Hall. One was moved to Bowery. The other was still at Webster. That being said, they are not the world's greatest live band...but if you like their music, it's a nice free gig for a Sunday.

"if a band puts on a good live show, i think it would be safe to assume that more people would like to go see it."

wow, this is the stupidest thing i've read in a while... i can't even begin to count the number of good or even great shows i've seen with just a couple dozen other people in attendance.

Posted by om | July 10, 2007 2:05 PM

and next time that band/performance comes around, logic says that those couple dozen will have told a few friends about the good/great show they saw, and then more people would go to the next one. and logic says even more strongly that one of those couple dozen has a blog, and then more than just a couple would show up to next good/great show. seems simple to me.

So I'm going tonight; are they really not great live? I love the album.

I love them live, I think they are actually a pretty special band in concert.

WHAT TIME DO THEY GO ON? ANY OTHER BANDS TONIGHT?

thx

what's this rsvp-ing business i see on the pool party website? do i actually need to do this?

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2007 5:58 PM

...and they were great. I love Everything All the Time man. I'm gonna see them again at McCarren Pool. The second new song they played tonight was really good.
