Drive By Truckers @ Castle ClintonDrive By Truckers @ Castle Clinton

The Drive-By Truckers absolutely killed (particularly the second half of their set). I'm a Jason Isbell fan, but I think the band is going to be just fine without him. [BYGASG]

Did it rain at all during that free show?

It didn't. There was a little rain while we were waiting to get in, but nothing during the show.

With or without Isbell, the bet Rock band in America today. (fu, Wilco, Radiohead, White Stripes. I've seen you all and Truckers kick your ass and take your lunch money)

The Castle Clinton show rocked. Stephen Talkhouse in Long Island the night before rocked. Isbell at Mercury Lounge rocked. The shows coming up in the fall will rock.

On the one hand, I cant' believe the attention the indie rockers like Spoon get compared to the much better Truckers. On the other hand, I'm glad the Truckers can still play the Bowery and Webster without it being a madhouse. So stay away y'all, keep seeing modestarcademonkeyshinspoon and leave the truckers to those who remember what real kick ass rock sounds like.

P.S. fuck you tweedy

But Thom, you and your mates are now in NYC mastering the next Radiohead album — http://www.stereogum.com/archives/radiohead.html — so you ARE in America today.

the only thing that sucked about this show were the fucking chairs. that actually prevented the crowd from getting into it from the get go, and by the time the second half of their set was running everyone began standing and the atmosphere the band had deserved was finally in effect.

i was at this show last week. they were definitely better than band of horses. i saw a girl in a really cool t shirt- "I get drunk because you bore me"

Can't wait. Does anyone have any idea what times are going to be like for these shows? We're going to the BK show.
