Gogol Bordello played two shows at the Fillmore Irving Plaza in NYC this past weekend, and Friday night (July 20, 2007) I missed Battles and Neko Case to see one of them. It's been said before, and I'll say it again - they really are one of the best live bands touring today - especially for those who like to jump around and dance a lot...

I went Friday, but Jefferson the photographer who took the photos in this post went Saturday, so that's the show you're seeing in these pictures....

Can't believe they sold out two nights and it was still impossible to get tickets. Previous years they only played one night and you could still find tickets on CL the day off.

Was it the Madonna effect? Their new album has some good songs, but it is average overall.

The shows sold out before Live Earth, so I don't think so. They've just been getting progressively bigger. I was so glad they did two nights at Irving instead of one at a larger venue. The Saturday night show was fan-fucking-tastic.

They are the most fun. Though I can rarely sit and listen to any of their albums straight throw, I always have the best time at their shows.

Yes, Friday's show was amazing. They never disappoint! Excellent pictures (though no one has pictures of Eugene singing from the balcony on Friday)!

Wow, I think the new album is excellent. They're carrying on full steam ahead from their last album.
