Polly PaulusmaSurprisingly, though this week's release list is short, there are plenty of worthwhile releases. Singer-songwriter Polly Paulusma finally releases Fingers & Thumbs in the US, and I can definitely recommend the 1990s' Cookies, Bat for Lashes' Fur & Gold, Shivaree: Tainted Love: Mating Calls & Fight Songs, Port O'Brien: The Wind and the Swell, and Josh Rouse: Country Mouse City House.

Two folk music compilations stand out this week: Putumayo Presents: Americana (which includes songs by Josh Ritter and Old Crow Medicine Show) and Smithsonian Folkways' Old Town School Of Folk Music Song Book, Vol. 2 & 3.

Not willing to pay import prices, I added both the Lloyd Cole and the Commotions Live at the BBC discs (Vol. 1 features three 1984 BBC sessions and a 1984 London performance, Vol. 2 features the band's 1986 Glastonbury festival performance) to my wishlist, in hopes of an eventual (and more economical) US release.

Have I left anything noteworthy off the list? What new music releases can you recommend this week?

Nice to see you recommend Josh Rouse. He's always good for some breezy pop songs, and the new disc is no exception.
