Liars

"Liars are set to release their self-titled, fourth studio album on Mute Records on August 28." Liars are the band opening for Interpol at MSG and elsewhere. Check out a new interview with Liars @ Paste. More new album info below....

Liars are set to release their self-titled, fourth studio album on Mute Records on August 28. It's everything you'd expect from a Liars release (somber, gripping) but so much more. Here's what front man Angus Andrew had to say about the album recently:

“I’d never felt like a songwriter ‘til this album. If you told me last year Liars would release a record like this, I would have laughed. If you said I’d be playing guitar solos, I’d have called you a liar. We never know what we’re making ‘til it’s made… this time I’m a bit shocked.”

Liars will release first single "Plaster Cast of Everything" on August 14th.

Liars Tracklisting
Plaster Casts Of Everything
Houseclouds
Leather Prowler
Sailing To Byzantium
What Would They Know
Cycle Time
Freak Out
Pure Unevil
Clear Island
The Dumb In The Rain

Interpol and Bjork should trade openers

Why the fuck are liars opening for interpol?

Posted by Anonymous | July 20, 2007 9:45 AM

i think they must be old friends from the brooklyn days or something cuz yea the bill doesnt really make any sense musically...

as much as i like interpol (in spite of the lackluster new album), i have a feeling liars are gonna blow the roof off that place. not sure how you follow that act.

i really hope they play a smaller venue while they're in town though.

please tell me the liars are going to headline somewhere in the city without interpol...

"yea the bill doesnt really make any sense musically..."

Then again, who can the Liars open for? Few bands bigger than them are remotely in the same "genre".

Another Liars + LSF double bill from many years ago would be great.

What happened to the band No Things made up of ex-Liars members?

Woohoo - my probably mediocre $50 concert just turned into a probably awesome $50 concert (although still probably $20 too expensive)!

n0 things put out a GREAT noisy droney dance punky album, i think its called "trees" and then promptly broke up... the bassist Pat is now in These are Powers.. not sure what the drummer is up to these days.

Bjork would make a helluva lot more sense than Interpol, for one. she is sort of genre-less, liek Liars. agreed with the poster who said they should trade openers. and back in the day(when they had the original rythm section) they opened for Sonic Youth at Irving Plaza and it was perfect. actually I think that might have been the last show of the original lineup... anyway.. more than anything Liars should just be headlining their own tour these days. they killed last year at Warsaw

I hear Bruce is opening for Bright Eyes also.

Wow. This will probably be a fantastic show. Interpol are utterly fantastic live (in spite of the lackluster album) and the Liars have a fantastic album coming out!!! (in spite of not being great live, of course I saw them circa They Were Wrong So We Drowned which is admittably not the time to see them) But yeah, the new Liars album is the best of the year as far as I'm concerned and it will KILL live.

Liars and Yeah Yeah Yeahs would make a killer show from the audience perspective. But, it might not make sense on the personal level for the bands. I don't know, maybe NYC is tired of YYYs, but we haven't gotten enough of them on the west coast.

They have played many times together. Not surpising considering their history.

um the liars aren't musicians. the lead singer just humped and moaned for 45 minutes. interpol is one of the best bands ever and for some shitty band like the liars to open is just sad. i will say that it was pretty funny seeing the lead singer shimming and dancing spastically. i guess they did pump the crowd up.
