Yeah. Siren looks good to me. Some music, couple of hot dogs and some beer by the beach... yeah I am going.

Cheap Beer at Siren Fest? Where on the boardwalk or vicinity can I get the biggest, cheapest to-go beer? I'm talking quantity, not quality here. Thanks.

am I the only one not interested in reading a book about a teenage boy that does magic.?
Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2007 1:00 AM
going to siren but limited. gonna go check out the twilight sad, go back home for a few hours to eat and sleep. then go back at six for m.i.a. and then i'm out. not really interested in this years (last year) lineup. total trash.
Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2007 1:27 AM
Ummmm, how about Jay Reatard at Bowery tonight? That's gonna be miles better than any of the other things going on today, including the awful Siren lineup (save M.I.A. and The Black Lips, of course).
Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2007 12:43 PM
Daedelus at Luna Lounge tonight, way after siren
Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2007 12:55 PM
fuck you anonymous douchebag. i am not looking on here for comments about the ending to a book that has not even come out yet. asshole

Anonymous July 21 1 am --> You're not alone. I, too am completely uninterested in this Magickal carnival of tards.

"This years (last year) lineup" exactly. A damn shame, I'm reading Book 7 and doing laundry, saving my energy for Brazilian Girls at Summerstage....another last yr, BUT fun and closer than Coney Island.

Wow, this years festival is total trash. I was there from Twilight Sad to Noisettes (1-3 pm) and the sound was crap, extremely hot, and everyone who was there looked like they were there for a fashion show. I swear I thought Paris Hilton was about to show up. I couldn't stand everyone grilling me every second. Not to mention I lost my friends due to the two stage setup. Came home ate, quenched my thirst, and slept a bit. I'll go back for at 6 for M.I.A. and then maybe catch Cursive at 8 while I'm there.

Debacle. The festival couldn't even find MIA a microphone that worked until almost halfway through her set! Nevermind getting the sound loud and clear enough to hear, even halfway back from the stage. Ridiculous.

I had a good time, I paid attention to We are Scientists and they played really well and sounded good. I had fun, but yeah the gazing insecure eyes are annoying, but gotta break away from the bland insecure people.
Suffocating the life with your insecure eyes.
Be yourself, don't try to look at people like you are so high, insecure ones.
Plenty of nice real people there as well surely.
The Siren Music Festival is and was a cool place even in the heat to enjoy a music venue in a unique place.

M.I.A. was good. Anyone has an extra ticket for Studio B on Wednesday?
Posted by Eduardo | July 22, 2007 3:32 AM
anyone who said this year's festival was trash obviously didn't catch matt and kim's set. they completely rocked the shit.

People always complain about the sound at Siren, but it's always been high expectations for an outdoor show. This year however, the sound really was terrible. I left the MIA performance because I couldn't stand the bad mix anymore. I thought maybe the sound guy didn't know how to mix non-rock acts, but the New York Dolls also sounded terrible. Sami Yaffa's bass was one big thud. Couldn't hear the interaction between Sylvian and Conte's guitars. This is the same band that killed at Randalls Island, but this time around their outdoor set was flat.
I am not a Matt and Kim fan, but they did put on a good show. I still won't buy their albums, but I could seeing them again live. Voxtrot were a tad boring.
Rudys was fun as always.

ny dolls also killed at south st seaport last summer, so it's not the outdoors setting, it's just the shitty siren organizers who couldn't give a shit about the people who show up. siren may have other merits (spending a day in coney), but enjoying live music is certainly not one of them. worst sound AND sightlines ever. i haven't returned since 2004.

Matt and Kim?? Hmmmm. Where have I seen a power duo before? Can somebody help me out here? Is there another power duo out there that's pretty popular right now? One with possibly a girl drummer and a guy on guitar? If not, I'd have to say Matt and Kim are pretty original.
Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2007 10:34 AM
Anon 10:34... nobody said they were terribly original. just that they put on a great set.
Go suck an egg, buddy!
Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2007 11:51 AM
Anon 10:34...you're a fucking loser
go hone your hipster sarcasm/irony somewhere else!
just a tip...you are not funny, and there is really no similarity between the white stripes and matt & kim at all other than the fact that both meg white and kim are female drummers
you really cracked the case...great work dr. watson!

anon 12:13-i was just about to write the same comment
anon 10:34
when comparing bands, the sound is what usually matters
Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2007 12:39 PM
What are you talking about? I like Matt and Kim. Don't know who these white strips are but they can't nearly be as good.
Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2007 12:44 PM
Meg can't play drums. Kim, despite having a basic setup, can. Meg looks like a deer in headlights when she is on stage.
Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2007 5:44 PM
Well there you have it. Move over White Stripes, make room inside the narrow room for power rock duos. Here comes Matt and Kim!

OK, Domanick, we'll "except this fate."
I dug MIA's new material. And the cowgirl get-up was a plus.

Your proofreading would be clever accept that you're a real idiot.
I'm soooo glad you loved that cowgirl outfit A.P.F! "A Possible Fairy".
