Craig Finn @ HiFi

It has been brought to my attention that the free show at Barnes & Noble will actually just be frontman Craig Finn solo. It is one of B&N's Upstairs in the Square events, and will be hosted by NPR's Kathryn Lampher. For all members of The Hold Steady, check out the shows in Prospect Park, and by the World Trade Center.

Craig Finn by himself? Maybe he'll play Secret Santa Cruz and Nassau Coliseum!

so, the event was hosted by the old co-host on al franken's Air America radio show. she's pretty annoying.

craig shared the stage with a young african novelist, referred to as an heir to Chinua Achebe. she read from her new book and, well, she's hot. very sexy. i don't know about her writing...

craig played two acoustic songs. first was "Certain songs," which was wonderful. he later played an out take from Boys and Girls. He hung around afterward to sign autographs. Craig also looks good, i.e., slim.

thanks for the report!

A slim Craig? Noooo! He isn't going to a GYM, is he? What a drag if he goes the Bob Mould route... nobody wants to hear songs about Charlemane sipping soy smoothies.

actually he talked about how about a year ago he decided to get in shape (he started running), but found that he was less creative. felt better, looked better, but wasn't writing as much. this was tied into a discussion about art and depression
