Thanks. I missed them on July 4th but will definitely catch them at Webster Hall!

I saw the news about the new dates yesterday, but have not seen confirmation of Neko and Dan touring with the band. Where has that been announced?
Posted by Paul | July 13, 2007 3:50 PM
"Challengers" already in the running for LP of the year.
Would have preferred an appearance at Town Hall instead tho'.

Trust BV on this one. He's right about Dan touring with them.

That news absolutely makes my year. I was bummed to hear they wouldn't be with the band at P4k this weekend, so Milwaukee on 10/17 will be my first Neko- and Dan- included NP experience!

Hey, Philadelphians: Is the Trocadero special enough to make the trip there from NYC? (I figure I'll ask even though a negative answer will leave me wondering if it is given just to discourage non-Philly-area people from buying tickets.)

queens,
i really like the troc-it used to be a theatre and a burlesque hall, and it has a lot of personality. i've been to quite a few shows there (including neko, last year) and i really love it. there isn't a bad seat in the place.
see, no negativity!

Troc = A+
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2007 11:16 AM
actually, the troc kinda sucks if you're right next to the stage. it's too high for that (kinda like mccarren pool). otherwise, great space.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I took the plunge and ordered a ticket for that show.
The Troc has seats, jayme? Ducat King offered only GA tickets when I placed my order.
FYI to anyone who hasn't checked out the presale yet: Tickets are will-call only and can be picked up only by the person who placed the order. "In order to pick up Will Call tickets you will need a copy of the receipt, a valid state issued photo ID, and the credit card used to purchase the tickets." If you're a youngster using a parent's credit card (Webster Hall shows are 18+ and the Troc show is all-ages), the address on your ID has to be the same as the billing address of the credit card.
Maybe the terms of sale will be different during the regular sale.

But the Troc is nice and tiny. Any spot is good.

I just looked at the MySpace profile of Immaculate Machine, Kathryn Calder's other band. They have October 26 at the Troc on their schedule, so I guess they're opening that show. They have nothing listed for the prior two nights (i.e., when the NP's are playing Webster Hall)... Hmmm...
FYI to those who havent checked out the Ducat King pre-sale: one Emma Pollack is listed as the opener at Webster Hall and the Troc.

I wonder if they will have the mini orchestra with them again. The violinist was hot.
Posted by Ben | July 14, 2007 10:06 PM
the troc doesn't have assigned seating, but the 21+ section upstairs has seating. i usually sit there even when the shows are all ages.

Town hall might have better sight lines, but it's lame with all the sitting down and i've never heard anyone actually get that place to sound passable unless it was a really quiet act.
the last time the full band rocked webster were 2 of the best shows i'd seen in ages. And it sounded pretty rockin. I'm psyched. The violinist is pretty hot..... hope she shows. Was hard to say for sure on the 4th, but was she ANOTHER redhead on the stage?

hi- will dan bejar play at the los angeles shows???
Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2007 1:25 PM
they're also playing at the 9:30 club in DC on 10/27

Anyone have the set times for the Philly show on Friday night? The last train for NYC (I'll have to change trains in Trenton) leaves the Market East Station at 11:45 PM. The Trocadero's site says there's an afterparty there starting at 11 PM, but that seems too early to me.
Posted by queens cannibal | October 23, 2007 10:42 AM
The venue has a hard curfew of 11PM, so the show will definitely be over by then. The set times are:
Immaculate Machine 7:45-8:15
Emma Pollock: 8:30-9PM
NP's: 9:30-11PM

Thanks!

what are the set times for webster hall show? Anyone know anything about Immaculate Machine?
Posted by JS | October 24, 2007 3:01 PM
JS, i believe Immaculate Machine is Katherine Calder's (of the NPs) band. never heard em though.
Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2007 3:13 PM
Immaculate Machine is Kathryn Calder's band who is in the New Pornographers and is also Carl Newman's niece. They are only opening tomorrow (9/25). They are pretty good.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2007 4:41 PM
chill out about opening act times.. if you want to see the opening bands show up with the doors at 7....if you only want to see main band show up 2 and half hours later...what is the big deal about set times
Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2007 4:49 PM
Hey anon 4:49pm...spoken like someone who has nothing better to do than be there at 7pm...you could have said you have no idea what time they are going on, but I should chill out...
Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2007 4:57 PM
i dotn know who the two openers are but if np's are on at 10, its safe to assume first band at 8 and second band at 9.
Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2007 5:00 PM
thanks!
Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2007 5:05 PM
Both nights in NYC have this set time:
Wed: Benjy Feree
or Thurs: Immaculate Machine: 8-8:30
Emma Pollock: 8:45-9:30
NP's: 10PM
There's no curfew at Webster Hall, but I would expect about a 100 minute set from the NP's.
