Why are you releasing a million different versions of your new cd and thus causing your loyal fans to pay more?

Posted by Anonymous | July 5, 2007 6:41 PM

Why don't you go fuck yourself Anonymous?

If I was really doing it for the money then why would I charge $20 dollars a night for shows where I play 3 full hours?

Posted by Billy C. | July 5, 2007 7:15 PM

Warner Brothers makes the decision to sell a million different versions. They decided this you idiot.

This is all pitchfork's fault. We have all these retards going around right now, just repeating what they read. If Billy was all about the money why did he give away Machina II for free over the internet?

Seriously know what you are talking about before you come on here and make a fool of yourself.

Its called a record contract. Billy writes the music, WB sells it. Hes not gonna tell them to spread the b-sides out over 4 or 5 different releases to fuck with the fans, WB is gonna do it to line their pockets, just like any good record company would do...

zero is the fool in tarot. zeitgeist is all about this impending feeling. Is the new album about the progressive motion of society towards resurrection? I think there's a lot of heavy references to 2012. I think you had a spiritual experience in 98-00, and that maybe other people are experiencing similar experiences? Why come back as one when you can come back as many?

Posted by energy | July 5, 2007 7:27 PM

Warner Bros doesnt decide. You think billy corgan the super ego doesnt have final say on all things Smashing Pumpkins? Warner may have come up with the idea (and probably didnt) but surely billy approved it thus holding true to being the phony that he really is. 4 releases is very low.

I really like the new smashing pumpkins album. I may even buy one copy of it. If there are some other tracks that or on a different version sold at a different national chain store? That's what the internet is for. Why do you feel obligated to buy something just because it exists?

Posted by Mackie | July 5, 2007 8:13 PM

I'm so sick of people whining about the Smashing Pumpkins for this and that. If you knew anything about this band and how unbelievable they were to the fans in their final years, then you would stop bickering. The funny thing is that it's not the hardcore fans whining about any of this like buying multiple copies of the disc. It's just third parties idiots. Enough already.

I sucked off Jimmy's cock right after we recorded that. Tasted good.

Posted by Billy C. | July 5, 2007 8:26 PM

CORGAN RULES!!!

Posted by Jimmy C. | July 5, 2007 8:32 PM

i agree with zane...wb may come up with the idea, but billy definitely approves it. otherwise wouldn't every band have tons of different versions/b sides etc so all their record co's could make extra $?

Posted by Me | July 5, 2007 8:43 PM

No because other bands B-sides suck a lot of d.

Posted by You | July 5, 2007 9:01 PM

Can I submit a question for Iha? Then I might be interested.

Posted by Rich | July 5, 2007 10:33 PM

I think everyone should forget about the 24 versions of Zeitgeist and focus on this asinine questioner.

Posted by Anonymous | July 5, 2007 10:50 PM

Oh god, the second one is even better!

Posted by Anonymous | July 5, 2007 10:52 PM

why is this band still called the smashing pumpkins?

Posted by d | July 6, 2007 12:32 AM

Just like CN said, the fans aren't upset about the number of releases. Most will buy one cd, and download the other tracks online. The people complaining are the little hipster bitches who worship at the pitchfork alter. Get over it and go whack off to some of your indie rock.

Posted by shannon | July 6, 2007 1:30 AM

again, no one was complaining when Bloc Party and other artists were doing it. P-fork doesn't even have to make an effort to prove something in an article, the whole thing would have been a non-issue for most people. they're acting like the fucking NME with this one. they're guaranteed to inspire their legion of lemmings to run all over the internet and bitch about something verbatim that they probably wouldn't have even cared about to begin with. with that said, i think the album is pretty weak and I'm not planning on buying it.

Posted by G | July 6, 2007 2:09 AM

I'll tell you whut's phunny: People commenting here on BV about "little hipster bitches"--please, go troll an actual Slashing Humpkids site. We the little hipster bitches couldn't give a rat's ass about your opinion. Corgan has an ego the size of Uranus and he's a blithering idiot for humping the dollars from "fans." Now please GO AWAY!!!!

Typical how people can only aknowledge matters that are negative (well, negative in their view). Releasing different versions with some extra tracks on it is considered the ultimate sin, yet I don't think these people made themselvers heard when the band released an entire 24 track album for free. If they knew anything, they would know that it did not start or end there, over the years a lot of material was put online for free with the band's approval.
Yet here they are pissing and moaning about 4 tracks. Four tracks which (I think) will be released in other ways eventually as well, be it on singles or b-sides collection. I don't understand how people feel fans are being forced to buy multiple versions of the album.
Also, this band is still called smashing pumpkins as the two members with the biggest input in the band are still in it. So many bands have changed members trough the years, yet with the pumpkins it seems to be an enormous big deal.
Go jerk of to a linkin park album or something. Or here's a better idea: lighten the fuck up and grow up.

First of all, I'm a massive fan and I have nothing but love towards your work.

That said, I can't help but asking something that I never understood about some Billy's comments about the band.

On one hand, Billy's said a lot of times that the Smashing Pumpkins are a very cerebral band which patterns its career carefully, that every CD has an intention, a feel, being this the reason why many fantastic songs didn't make it on the different albums.

On the other Billy has decided to reunite the band in order to recapture the sound of the Smashing Pumpkins.

Well, what's that "Pumpkins essence", then?

Another one about the "Tarantula" video: is there an underlying message or is it just dumbass fun?

Posted by Patuquitos | July 6, 2007 12:35 PM

Yay we love dancing! HAHAHAHHAHA!!!
