I missed Land of Talk, but I thought both Grizzly Bear and the Decemberists were outstanding. Though I do think the Decemberists lost some steam when they came back after 9:30. In my opinion, this was one of my favorite concerts of the year so far!

I thought the Decemberists show was good, but not the best I've seen of them. It's time for them to retire some of there well known songs. Besides Oceanside, I was itching for something before Picaresque.
Anyway, I'm slowly putting up some pictures on my Flickr. The weirdest thing happened to me, though. A staff guy came over about ten minutes into the Decemberists set and told me my lens was too large. And that if I wanted to use it, I'd need a press pass or something. I didn't argue, it just seemed really weird.

I love the Decemberists. The sound was terrible where I was sitting (bleachers), but I had a blast.
More thoughts, lousy pics, full set list:

alex nothing weird about that. Maybe you should read the rules of summerstage-no professional cameras or telephoto lens. Maybe if you stop thinking that going to a show means taking pictures you would enjoy the show more. If you are that into taking pictures at shows get a press pass.
I thought the show was excellent. I was happy they played mostly newer material.

The Decemberists show was weak. They completely lacked energy except for Mariner's Revenge Song and the prog-rock song from Crane Wife.

I went last night, the sound is laughable in the back. But up front for Decemberists was great. Perfect outdoor band.

"Maybe if you stop thinking that going to a show means taking pictures you would enjoy the show more."
If a concert is not on flickr, then it never really happened.
