I think I may shed the 80 bucks for me and my girlfriend, shit.

I just want to see them so badly.

Do you think that tickets will sell out fast?

Whats up with Bowery Presents going through Ticketmaster for this? I guess I get to have the pleasure of hilariously ridiculous service fees reintroduced to my life.

Go to the Mercury Lounge box office to avoid fees.

"Go to the Mercury Lounge box office to avoid fees."

The concert will sell out way before people can get out of work to make it to Mercury Lounge.

send your intern to get tix

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 9:26 AM

That's a pricey ticket, especially for a band who just recently screwed over a shit load of thier fans!

Posted by brassbonanza | July 13, 2007 9:28 AM

How did they screw over "a shit load of their fans"?

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 9:36 AM

I don't think they screwed up the show, it was Glass House. Maybe JellyNYC can have their next show there. It would be 2 fans and the rest friends of the venue/promoter.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 9:36 AM

a lot of money to hear that girl holler...last time i saw them at an inside venue my ears bled,..not in a good way

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 9:38 AM

no confusion necessary with the ticketmaster tie in... ticketmaster owns ticketweb! and since bowery shows keep getting bigger and bigger with more demand, ticketmaster wont crash like ticketweb likes to do for fast selling shows. and the fees (supposedly) are staying the same.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 9:38 AM

Wow...I remember their show just last year at Bowery Ballroom (much smaller and nicer) was only $22 I believe.

They better play like a 2 hr set for that 37.50 price.

Posted by Eric | July 13, 2007 10:02 AM

That's basically going to be $50, after fees & all. Thankfully, I'm seeing them a couple days earlier at Lollapalooza, so I'm not too conflicted about this.

As much as I am not a supporter of high concert prices....who here actually bough their albums? You know albums cost money to make and when no one buys them, they have to make the money back touring. Their album probably cost about 100 grand to make. So after stealing their music, you reap what you sow with the high concert prices.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 11:14 AM

Honestly - 37.50 + fees is not a lot of money to see a band that you really like. If you don't like YYY that much, then that's a perfectly reasonable reason to not go to the concert. But stop complaining about a 37.50 ticket price. I'm sure most of you complaining would have no problems dropping $50 a night on alcohol at some stupid bar or spending $100 for your jar of weed. They also sold out two shows at the Roseland last year, and if I recall correctly, that price was about $40 (including fees). Given that Webster is about half the size of Roseland, you will get the advantage of seeing them in a much smaller venue. God, all people do is bitch and gripe on this site.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 11:26 AM

37.50 (+ ticketmaster shit fees) for the yeah yeah yeahs at Webster is pretty steep...and yeah I did buy their albums the nice way. Anywhoo, anyone know who is opening for them? At that price I expect 2 really good openers.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 11:29 AM

um.. i actually paid for both their albums and the EP. and I'll buy the new EP when it comes out....

why should I get raped on this ticket price? fuck it... they'll be around again soon enough.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 11:29 AM

Just to note, it's unlikely that entire $37.50 is actually going to the band. Generally when bands go on tour a large amount of the income come from the merch sales at said events, not necessarily the ticket prices.

Posted by Marlon | July 13, 2007 11:31 AM

It wasn't just the Glasslands that screwed up. Don't tell me that place wasn't filled with friends and label people. Yes, fans got in, but not as many as THEY orignally said.

I buy all of their albums and went to both of the Bowery shows last year, which was a watered down version of the YYY's. The shows were short and seemed very uninspired. Karen was just going through the motions.

$100,000 to make a live EP of old songs? Really? Even if that is true, $37.50 + for YYY at Webster is ridiculous. I was looking forward to it until I saw that price. Bands can charge whatever they want to charge (FUGAZI). I love the YYY and always will, but it makes me upset to see them charging that much. Tour behind a live EP and drain your fan's pockets. Not too cool.

Posted by brassbonanza | July 13, 2007 11:44 AM

just buy two pair of tickets and scalp one. that way you can't bitch about paying overcharged prices and you can still go
end of story

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 11:56 AM

37.50 is a lot of money. thats like 3 mercury lounge shows!

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 11:59 AM

just got tickets.. comes out to 89 for 2 tickets. fees dont kill.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 12:07 PM

sold out, crap!

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 12:07 PM

anon - 11:36 a whole jar of weed for $100? awesome!

anyway, while y'all were busy bitchin' i got two tix to the rock-n-roll show.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 12:10 PM

damn i hate ticketmaster. and not cause of the fees...it's cause its impossible to get tickets to in demand shows.

not once i have i ever had a problem with ticketweb, but with ticketmaster things always mysteriously sell out instantly.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 12:13 PM

got on at noon, browser crashed, back on at 12:02 and tickets sold out.

lame.

anyone get extras?

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 12:14 PM

anon 1207- i guess you hate katrina victims.

$45 per ticket ($46 if you care about black people) to see a band you love at a venue smaller than they usually play is fine.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 12:18 PM

i just got two.
happy friday the 13th!

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 12:20 PM

Ill pay the $45

Posted by Pete | July 13, 2007 12:24 PM

anon 11:56 AM, that's my strategy!

Posted by Marlon | July 13, 2007 12:31 PM

to person who thinks sold out 1202.. not true. i got 2 at 1205 and another 2 at 1207. same thing with ticketweb, it just gets slow and says that no tickets available. all you had to do was keep trying..

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 12:39 PM

already plenty on ebay.. crazy peoples.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 12:51 PM

trying stupidly for ten minutes in vain. would like 1. anyone want to sell?

Posted by glasslandattendee | July 13, 2007 12:55 PM

Looks like despite all the usual whining, supply and demand proved once again that the tickets were UNDERpriced given the quick sell out. Also, for the poster above that talks about the whole ticket price not going to the band...typically the way a show works is the band gets paid a guaranteed amount plus some percentage of gross sales. The promoter then takes the rest of the gross sales to pay for all of the concert expenses (including the band's guarantee). With most shows, the promoter is the one that bears the financial risk, not the band. So, it is the promoter that sets the ticket prices depending on how much the band's guarantee is and how much the other costs are (security, rent, insurance, ASCAP, etc.).

Hope those that wanted tickets got 'em...

I can't believe people are paying $45 to see a lame band....only good thing about this band is nick zinner.....this is more money than sonic youth playing daydream nation! too crazy....

^^^
thank you.

poor people suck and should not be allowed into shows to begin with.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 2:48 PM

what are you talking about, i cant believe? brian chase is glorious drum god.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 6:27 PM

now that bowery presents is using ticketmaster, people can toss the obligatory "fuck you, ticketmaster/ticketbastard" in virtually every bv post.

happy times are here again.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2007 10:15 PM

yeah they will definitely add more shows. of course, in my moment of disappointment earlier today, that prospect did not come to mind.

ready for round II.

Posted by glasslandattendee | July 13, 2007 11:12 PM

fyi: tix still available for the philly show at electric factory ($32 after ridiculous ticketbastard fees).
