Chk Chk Chk @ Lollapalooza 2007 (CRED)
Chk Chk Chk @ Lollapalooza

BAD NEWS for !!! (Chk Chk Chk) fans (or good news if you're mean like that). Those coming back from Lollapalooza are bringing reports that the tall other-vocalist in the band - John Pugh - did not perform with the group, and that he has in fact quit the band. I personally am upset at the prospect of not seeing him sing his parts at the upcoming Webster Hall show with The Field, but someone else I talked to said they were more than fine with this change...What do you think? John wasn't with them when they came through chicago in the early summer either

That sucks! I thought that the two of them had a great balance at the Bowery show a while back--you know, some Richard Simmons on acid moves, some tall guy lanky-weird moves...glad I saw them then!

that's a shame. he added some fun dynamic. though i know others that thought differently. we'll see where this leads the band!!! look forward to webster anyhow

FREE BLOOD

Posted by klk | August 7, 2007 9:14 AM

was i the only person who noticed that justin didn't play at studio b?!?! he left the tour but then came back. while i love john, i think that not having justin on bass and tyler on lead guitars REALLY hurt their sound.

oh yeah, also, allan posted a myspace bulletin that was something along the lines of, "you better see us when we come back into town because after this year, we're not playing for a LONNNNNNNNG time."

which, really, is understandable seeing as they've been on tour for the bulk of the year.

He's still listed on their myspace as a member of the band, so I'm hoping he just couldn't make these dates. Maybe he hates Chicago?

Shananana covered his parts of the songs quite well, but it's just not the same without him.

Anyone know who the chick with the raccoon tail who came on and danced with them toward the end was?

LIKE I GIVE A FUCK!!!

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 10:05 AM

skipped !!! entirely. caught first half of yo la tengo and 2nd half of peter bjorn and john. Im sure that was much better choice than watching all of !!!.

Posted by nyc noise fan | August 7, 2007 10:14 AM

free blood.

Posted by david. | August 7, 2007 10:23 AM

nyc noise fan, you're insane if you think yo la tengo and pb&j put on a better show than !!!...

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 10:40 AM

free blood!

Posted by tom | August 7, 2007 10:41 AM

pugh made the band.

don't blow up my free blood.

Posted by chris | August 7, 2007 10:44 AM

yeah, seriously...shut up about free blood. i want to be able to see them at sweaty house parties and boutiques.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 10:52 AM

id rather eat an actual pb&j than watch pb&j...totally lame music, seemingly intended for crappy car commercials

to even suggest that the sandwich band is better than !!! live is just silly

(ps...the whistling is a backing track)

wow - that really disappointing. seing, i think, 7 of their shows in the past few yrs, i really liked john, his vocals, and their back and forth antics. what a bite.

Posted by vinz | August 7, 2007 11:21 AM

a shame - I really liked his parts and he drummed ona few songs too.

Posted by J to the D | August 7, 2007 11:25 AM

Dissapointing. They were great together. No official word yet, right?

Posted by Eduardo | August 7, 2007 12:02 PM

Nevermind. It's actually official. This sucks.

Posted by Eduardo | August 7, 2007 12:07 PM

free blood is fucking awesome, maybe now theyll finish a record.

Posted by edan | August 7, 2007 12:42 PM

How is '???' pronounced?

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 12:45 PM

Really? Shit. Have you got a link, Eduardo?

And yes, Free Blood are great, but not nearly as great as the whole !!!

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 12:59 PM

>> How is '???' pronounced?

huh huh huh

Posted by sacramentomnivore | August 7, 2007 2:09 PM

I think he's the better singer, and the much less annoying one. The other guy.. eh... something about him seems severely forced, especially live.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 4:06 PM

It's totally official. Long live Freeblood!!!!

Posted by anon | August 7, 2007 5:18 PM

It's official. Pugh ia amazing - Shannon does a great job filling his big shoes. Long Live Freeblood!!!!!

John not in !!! is a bummer and will affect their live show, but I guess more Free Blood is a decent consolation prize.

Posted by Chris | August 7, 2007 5:41 PM

Where is this offical news coming from?

Posted by chris | August 8, 2007 12:03 PM

The live !!! set, with John, from the Studio B performance can be heard online with John's last interview at http://www.viva-radio.com/vivalive

I opine that to get the business loans from creditors you ought to present a great motivation. Nevertheless, once I have received a term loan, because I was willing to buy a bike.
