Bright Eyes or Conor Oberst has been on his own record label since he was only 13 years old. He refused many offers to join a major label because of the many deceptions and lack of creative control that they offer. Through his own hard work and genious writing Conor built a very loyal fan base over the years and is now able to tour major venues versus the small select clubs and cities he used to have to rely on. I think that the fact he is going on this national tour playing major venues in major cities is proof that musicians do not need a major label if they remain true to themselevs and their art. Too many musicians nowadays are in it just for the money and fame, and sacrifice their own creativity to acheive it. Conor shows us all that it is possible to make it to the top while remaining your own person and keeping your own creative edge.

This album was the opposite of a "grower" for me: I loved it at first and now I find it incredibly irritating. I'm not crazy about this video either - does he need to be so proud that he wouldn't be accepted as a "real" country singer? It's irony at the sacrifice of quality.

thanks for sharing that since i asked if you liked the album

Oh, sorry TFS, I didn't realize this was an opinion-free zone. I'll get with the program and post only sarcastic one-liners from now on.

According to the Saddle Creek website:
"Omaha" will be the password for all Ticketmaster related pre-sales for the upcoming Bright Eyes tour. We will post a list of the shows with pre-sales on the tours page as soon as we have it.

Does anyone know what time the show is actually going to start? Do Radio City shows actually start on time? And are Thurston Moore and the Felice Brothers each opening or are they playing with Bright Eyes?
Posted by Fan | November 18, 2007 9:27 PM
felice brothers go on at 8. doors open at 7. and yes, they are strict with the time so it will definitely start at 8pm. felice followed by thurston followed by bright eyes. good times.
