CSS played NYC & Virgin Festival, but not Lollapalooza
the line @ Studio B Friday night, Brooklyn, NYC (CRED)

Dirty on Purpose, Shout Out Out Out Out, and CSS played a free show to a packed (see above) Studio B in Brooklyn Friday night (Aug 3, 2007). From there CSS was headed out to Lollapalooza, and from there they were heading down to play the Virgin Festival in Baltimore. Unfortunately, things didn't quite work out the way they planned...
THE SHITTY UNITED AIRLINES MADE CSS MISS LOLLAPALLOOZAMore frustrated MySpace messges by the band (and pictures) below....Well, folks. Wanna read a story?
This is how things happened:
A couple of weeks ago we finished the first part of the crazy SUMMER FESTIVAL TOURS. So we were happy we were having some days off, yay! But we had to get our working visas for USA, so instead of going home, we went to Lisbon to get our visas issued. We statyed a couple of days in sunny Lisbon (yummy Lisbon), got the papers, rested for four days and came to US.
Yesterday we played our NYC gig, which by the way was very very very fun. The crew and a part of the band headed right after the show to Chicago with the bus (which didn't have enough room for everybody) and the rest of us went stayed one more night in NYC. We had a flight to Chicago eleven in the morning of the next day (aka today).
So we woke up very early, got an expensive taxi to the LaGuardia airport, checked in almost three hours before the flight and GUESS WHAT?
United Airlines oversold the flight and...
and...
they're very sorry cuz there's no other way for us to go to Chicago and play our gig! And they're also VERY SORRY cuz our luggages went to Chicago. And they're very sorry they ain't paying for our hotels here in NYC today, our cab, our fucking dignity. And by the way, they were the ASSHOLEST people I ever saw in my life. They treated us like shit. FUCK UNITED AIRLINES BIG TIME.
BIG TIME.
ASSHOLES.
ARSE-HOLES.NOW WHERE'S MY FUCKING CASE? SHIT.
We're so sorry. And pissed.
Love. And hate.
CSS.
CSS @ The Virgin Festival, Baltimore, MD - Aug 5, 2007 (CRED)

This was the first one:
FUCK UNITED AIRLINESAND:
Hi There. We are at Laguardia Airport right now with our boarding passes, in front of the gate to the chicago flight but it seems this fucking airline sold way more tickets then they had seats so we cannot board.
And they just told us NOW. as we were boarding. NOT 2 hours ago, when we did the check in and still had time to try other companies.
So we might not make it to Lolapalooza.
I want to scream so bad right now. This is so absurd. We are taking flights almost every day this summer and its the first time a air company treats us with such disrespect.
I dont now what to say to everyone that went to the festival to see us
Subject: FUCK UNITED AIRLINESCSS @ The Virgin Festival, Baltimore, MD - Aug 5, 2007 (CRED)
Body: FUCK UNITED AIRLINES
FUCK UNITED AIRLINES
AND:
FUCK UNITED FUCK UNITED FUCK UNITEDAND:
AND now they are saying that our luggage went to Chicago. Why??
"Sorry miss, there is nothing we can do"
FUCK UNITED.
How can a airline company NOT be responsible for the flight they sold?
Let's sue United Airlines and befriends with Busta RhymesAND:
Are you a lawyer? Do you like us?
Did you read what United Airlines did to us?
Wanna talk?
Can you lend me some clothes? Please?
Please?
The Worst PartCSS @ The Virgin Festival, Baltimore, MD - Aug 5, 2007 (CRED)
Is that we came to US basically because of this invitation to Lollapalooza. 12 people traveling back and forth, getting visas and spending shitloads of money to make things happen. To play for people that want to see us.See everybody tomorrow at V in Baltimore.

CSS were BY FAR the best set @ Virgin Day 2.

After the insanity that was there show @ STudio B this past Friday, this band is definitely off the hook. They are all very playful and funny (especially Lovefoxxx).
Sucks what happened to them though, not suprising since Airlines have been given truly shitty service for years.

Sorry to hear about the airline problems. This happens more and more these days. Studio B was sheer insanity on Friday. Full report to go along with that picture of the line over my way.

Now I get the whole "FUCK UNITED AIRLINES" chant that went on at Virgin. They were so good though, loved the dancing trees haha

isn't it partially the bands fault for deciding to stay an extra day in new york knowing they would be cutting it close with such a big show they needed to get to?

matt and kim took their place. too bad for you, css. next time maybe get there a day early? that always makes sense. however, i dont believe the bus didnt have room part. if you wanted to go you make room. they just wanted to stay the night in the city to party or rest up or whatever, which is a legit reason. so i dont question that.
getting somewhere day of is in any way safe way to do it. with all the flight cancellations and bad t-storms during the summer. my flight was delayed on fri 2 hours because of t -storm so i basically missed all of friday. i think getting bumped from that flight, it must have been some kind of misunderstanding though. i mean they had a legit reason why they had to be on that flight.
btw sonmeone was asking how matt and kim was, suprisingly mediocre (after all the praise how rocking their show at siren fest was, which i missed as well). matt tells funny stories and they have the banter going, they laugh a lot and joke. the amp kept breaking down from overheating they had to put a fan on it even though it was only 75 deg F at the time. I cant remember anything else that really stood out. maybe i was in a pissy mood cause i missed friday because of plane issues. so sorry, keep working on it and you will be good, maybe. similar in music and attitude to best fwends and dan deacon, but not as good?

NYCNoiseFan, CSS took every precaution before trying to board the plane. the weather was fine. there was not an act of god that stopped them from going to the show it was the airline. get there a day early? are you kidding? bands are busy busy busy. expecting to fly at a certain time with their luggage isn't too much to ask. Over booking the flight is sooo not cool.
Unrelated: the studio B show was the best show I've been to all summer! I've been to many many shows. To those 7 people who crowd surfed right on top of me and did not hit the floor, your welcome. To those people who threw there beers/drinks over everyone in the vicinity.... I can't complain too much. I was really really hot...

United airlines has a long history of over selling their flights. Thats the main reason I never fly with them.
Posted by CMF | August 7, 2007 7:12 PM
This was kinda the moment they became my favorite band

it's a standard business practice for hotels, airlines, etc to overbook. it's the nature of the business. they lose money when seats/rooms aren't full. not that most of them need more money
