Viva Las Vegas

As someone who:

  • missed Daft Punk's show in Coney Island
  • missed Muse's show at MSG (not a huge Muse fan, but people keep saying you HAVE to see them live)
  • missed Rage Against the Machine at Coachella and Rock the Bells (honestly not dying to see them again, but kind of want to too)
  • has seen the reunited Iggy Pop & The Stooges, and think they're awesome, and would love to see them perform their classic album Fun House from start to finish (like they did in London in 2005)
  • likes to see shows by artists like M.I.A., Ghostface, Mastodon, Blonde Redhead, and Gogol Bordello
  • likes to roll in Sin City and play the nickel slots 'till the sun comes up...
...VEGOOSE (Oct 26-28, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is looking really tempting.

P.S. This Thursday August 16th is the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death.

Nice to see US catch up to Europe with the torrential downpour of festivals.

The Stooges play all of Fun House during their normal shows. Haven't seen them tour for the new album, but all the shows before that (Randalls Island, Roseland, Jones Beach) were all songs from the first two albums.

i'm going, should be an awesome weekend, can't go wrong with this lineup + all that is vegas.

ELVIS IS DEAD?!?!?!?!!

Posted by Mike T | August 13, 2007 1:55 PM

there's been a lot of talk that they're adding Kraftwerk and modest mouse to the lineup.

i wish stooges would play raw power straight through instead.

Posted by mat | August 13, 2007 2:12 PM

i can't see the stooges ever playing anything off of raw power. ron asheton got demoted to playing bass last minute on that one instead of lead guitar and probably doesn't give a shit enough to learn it.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2007 2:20 PM

Exactly, Ron Asheton didn't play guitar on Raw Power, so they never play anything from that album.

yeah, true that. but it just kicks so much ass, i prefer it over the other two, but that may be a result of its shorter length being reflective of my attention span.

after seeing daft punk on thursday, i'm definitely going to this.

it's just an added bonus that it happens to be in one of my favorite cities in the whole world.

kraftwerk and daft punk in one weekend?!?!?!?!

i don't think my heart could take ....talk about sensory overload....

Posted by julio | August 13, 2007 2:42 PM

i hate vegas.

I'm surprised to see that you didn't also say this:

* loves Halloween and Vegoose recommends wearing costumes.

You do still love Halloween, right? And Muse are definitely NOT a band that you HAVE to see live. But Rage and Daft definitely ARE.

Tempting indeed. I have also been keeping tabs on flights to Vegas.

"i hate vegas."

Sounds like someone is broke. Don't be a hater.

$320 is the best ive seen, on jetblue. seeing the stooges would be my main motivation, id say chances are about 90% im going to this.

Tickets are $170 after fees and shipping. If airfare were cheaper, I would consider it.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2007 4:13 PM

I am not broke. I am actually considering going to Vegoose, but I do hate Vegas. I think that it's the worst city on Earth..that I've been to anyway. Well, besides L.A.

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2007 4:32 PM

170??? where did you see that?

Posted by Anonymous | August 13, 2007 8:08 PM

This lineup is killer + I've never been to Vegas so I've locked in a flight over from Sydney to this!
