Was a cute idea, but it's too much running around, no?

$25 was just too much. it woulda been an awesome event for $10. and a tip to nymag, everyone has a subscription by now, we're not willing to pay extra for it anymore.

This has nothing to do with Dan Deacon's popularity. It has to do with overpriced $25 tickets for a ridiculous scavenger hunt that nobody cares about or wants to pay for. Plus, everyone has had the chance to see Dan 10 times this past year - most of them for free, or in small venues.

@ Anon 7:04
But isn't it a comment on his popularity that most of his shows have been for free or in small venues?

$25 is too much? For a scavenger hunt, show, plus free food and drink? Seemed like a pretty good deal to me.

why would I want to pay for a scavenger hunt?

I don't think it was very clear in the ads that there were free drinks, food, and magazine subscription included in addition to the show.

That's too bad, cause the Girl Talk/ Dan Deacon show is sold out.

dan deacon/girl talk...possibly the worst bill in the history of music. a guy painfully attempting to sing while wearing a moomoo opening for a guy who plays mp3s from his mac for 2 hours

what the e-mail said:
Dear Ticket Purchaser,
Thank you for buying a ticket to New York by New York's Scavenger Madness.
Unfortunately it has become apparent that people tend to go out of town on 3 day weekends and Labor Day Weekend is no exception, therefore we have had to postpone the hunt.
Oh dear.
Not to worry, you will be refunded your FULL ticket price. If you are on the New York by New York mailing list, you will be receiving date & talent updates/changes via the mail list. If you are not, then you may either sign up here, or stay tuned to nymag.com/nyxny for further details. For those of you ticket buyers, we are going to open up sales exclusively for YOU when we go back on sale. We ABSOLUTELY do plan on having another event so make sure you check the site.
If you do not see the refund on your credit card statement from Insound by Friday, August 31st, please send an email to nyxny@nymag.com with your information.
From your friends at New York magazine!
Thank you!
personally I dont think it was too expensive at all. I think they could have sold 200 tix for this to Union Pool easily (would have been the perfect venue for this show I think).
I think the Scavenger Hunt aspect turned off the people a bit, who wants to hang out with a bunch of strangers in teams? They kept it too mysterious, never even announced where the show was supposed to take place.

"a guy who plays mp3s from his mac for 2 hours"
He uses a Dell.

The real reason this thing failed is NY on a September weekend is social suicide.

i dont know about that, pop fest did pretty well this year and that was memorial day weekend. its not like dan deacon fans are normally hanging in the hamptons.

Wasn't it an all-night open bar, too? Free food, scavenger hunt, a chance to win $1000.00, and an extended open bar for $25? Akon could play for all I care, I'd still go.

I am suspecting that this was one of the blogs he was referring to during his set at the yard.
For all of you that missed it, maybe you'll get to pay $25 next time.
