This Sunday (August 19, 2007) will be the last free party of the summer at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn. Hopefully it won't be the last one ever - you don't have to agree, but whether you want the pool next year to look something like the above video, or something more like the hipster version of Scores - just make sure you let the government know. Only you can make a difference.

Sunday's lineup:McCarren Pool - Crack kills

* Ghostland Observatory
* The Rub DJs
**** The Cool Kids
**** Kid Sister
**** Betty Black
**** Pase Rock,
**** and surprise guests (Spank Rock??)
* Yacht
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. In addition to Feist/BSS, Modest Mouse & The Chemical Brothers, there will be one more ticketed show at the Pool this September, and it will be a benfit for OSA-Open Space Alliance-the entity most responsible for keeping concerts happening there. The date of the show is September 15th, and the lineup consists of the very talented Mr Jamie Lidell, and sir GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan - and YES, GZA will be performing Liquid Swords from start to finish - like he did at the Pitchfork Festival. Ticket details coming shortly.

GZA doing Liquid Swords at the Pool OMG!!!!! That is going to be amazing, I heard that tickets are only twenty bucks too!!! I hope that's the case!!!

it's going to be retarded good

Is it possible they might actually play together? At Lidell's Southpaw show he passed the mic to audience members who attempted to freestyle. He then proceeded to remix them live in a mindblowing fashion. My thought at the time was that he needed to collaborate with a good rapper and do more of that.

Oh, I'm very, very much there for GZA.

GZA will definitely be performing LIQUID SWORDS. Jamie Lidell will also be amazing, he's got a new record coming out in the Fall.

This show is going to rule. I was going to go to Dan Deacon and Girl Talk until I heard this.

There's already people with petitions walking around the nieghborhood knocking on peoples' doors asking them to fight against having the pool next year.

Better fight for your right to party!

Re: that video

It's bad enough being in a subway car that's crowded like that. But in a pool where the water provides bodily fluids a medium in which to migrate? Yeesh.

Do they sell tickets at the door?

Posted by Anonymous | August 17, 2007 1:22 PM

Holy Crap, Guys! I need to know: when and where is this show? And how much are tickets? And how do I buy them? I have no idea how to use the internet (I'm retarded). Also: how do I get to the venue, tie my shoes, and obtain money to exchange for goods and services?

I love Gza and the Wu. But seeing Gza perform Liquid Swords at Pitchfork was a bit of a letdown. Gza spit all of his verses and a handful of his guest's verses. But without the rest of the Clan, the songs were all chopped up, which led to the set being inconsistent and uneven in my opinion. I feel it wasn't until the end of the set when he started to go into other Wu songs that the crowd finally got amped.

Posted by Anonymous | August 17, 2007 2:42 PM

What time does GZA go on?

Posted by Anonymous | August 17, 2007 2:52 PM

GZA in Brooklyn will be better in so many ways than GZA in Chicago. I guarantee it. Brooklyn are u out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lookin forward to sunday. really hope we get some spank rock! is dan deacon out of town? b-more!!

I love Liquid Swords, but really I'd rather see GZA just do his thing as he sees fit. He doesn't need the structure of recreating the album. He is the king of flow, the Genius. The live album things is something of a gimmick that can work in rock shows. I feel like it seriously hampers hip hop.

Just give the GZA a mic and a DJ and let him do his thing.

Dammit, i got tix to Girl Talk/Dan Deacon already.

i'm a huge fan of liquid swords, what to do?

The Cool Kids and Gza? This shit's gonna be major...

Shame that it's the same night as Bonde Do Role and Girl Talk though...

Posted by devin | August 18, 2007 3:35 AM

Yeah, well, Dan Deacon plays NYC how often? Like 4 times a month or something? Between Deacon, who I'm sure will play here 10 more times this year, and GZA, the choice seems obvious.
