Juiced Elfers played NYC w/ Syd from Les Savy Fav
Juiced Elfers @ Mercury Lounge, NYC - Aug 23, 2007 (CRED)

Juiced Elfers (above) is a four piece partyfuntime '60s dance music inspired band that includes Nicolas Thorburn and Jamie Thompson of Unicorns/Islands fame. Last night they played a total of four songs including at least two cover songs ("Surfin' Bird" by The Trashmen and "With A Girl Like You" by The Troggs). Watching their set felt as if we were at a party and these guys got up on stage to kick out the jams. Clearly the band exists as an outlet for Nick and Jaime and friends to get together and have a good time, and there's nothing wrong with that. [Ear Farm has 3 of those four songs for download]The other two members of the not-neccessarily-a-real-band are Chris Taylor (not the Grizzly Bear one) and Syd Butler (yes the Les Savy Fav one) (also - not the first time he and Nick "Diamonds" Thorburn played together with members of other Canadian bands). See, here's Syd:

Supposedly this band has no future plans - just put together (if you count 4 songs as "together") because the Metric guys asked the Unicorns/Islands (who live in Brooklyn now???) if they wanted to play these 2 NYC shows with them (the other one being at Union Pool). Whether it actually turns into something remains to be seen. One more pic below, and at EF's Flickr where they came from....

Syd's next shows are with his actual band - at Randall's Island, Bowery Ballroom, and the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Islands' next show is during CMJ?

"Nick Diamonds:" some random, bored, rich, hipster acting like a down and out artist who likes to party. Big fucking surprise there. Woo fucking hoo--what a joke.
