Largehearted Boy's Interesting CD Releases This Week

DOWNLOAD: Imperial Teen - Shim Sham (MP3)
DOWNLOAD: David Dondero - Rothko Chapel (MP3)
DOWNLOAD: David Dondero - When the Heart Breaks Deep (MP3)
DOWNLOAD: The New Pornographers - My Rights Versus Yours (MP3)
DOWNLOAD: The New Pornographers - Myriad Harbour (new MP3)
DOWNLOAD: Architecture in Helsinki - Heart it Races (MP3)

editor's note: Largehearted Boy is not an M.I.A. kind of guy. Also worth noting above the fold I think: Caribou, Talib Kweli, and Architecture in Helsinki (though I haven't listened to them all yet). Definitely not Rilo Kiley. And now, LargeHearted Boy....

New Pornographers - ChallengersIndie rock fans have plenty of choices this week among new music releases. The New Pornographers' Challengers and Rilo Kiley's major label debut, Under the Blacklight, are the high profile albums, but I can also strongly recommend Josh Ritters' The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter, Jeremy Enigk's The Missing Link, Imperial Teen's The Hair, The TV, The Baby And The Band, Ryan Ferguson's Only Trying to Help, and Over the Rhine's Trumpet Child.

Notable reissues this week include three albums by singer-songwriter Lee Hazlewood: Lee Hazlewood-ism: Its Cause and Cure, Something Special, and The Very Special World of Lee Hazlewood.

Have I left anything noteworthy off the list? What new music releases can you recommend this week?

The Flaming Lips: U.F.O.'s at the Zoo [cd]

this isn't a regular cd, it's an "MVI Album"

from Amazon:

"What Is MVI? With a higher storage capacity than a standard CD, the Music Video Interactive Disc (MVI) contains new interactive features including, superior sound quality, a wide range of video features, and interactive digital content. MVI discs play in all standard DVD players, computers, and game consoles with DVD drives but do not play in conventional CD players. Digital music files are compatible with all MP3 devices."

this is basically a dvd, with a bunch of extra shit

rilo kiley's 'more adventurous' was their major label debut.

So Largehearted, your webblog of Amazon links is cute, but what purpose does it serve for bands that choose not to go through Amazon and are actually intelligent about the way they sell CD's? Surely you must have some independent CD's you can plug?

i am confused by MVI. For UFOs at the Zoo...is this a concert FILM? as in all the tracks are A/V? the review on Amazon seems to indicate is a concert movie, but MVI seems to be more about audio with extras..

More Adventurous was re-released on a major label, but they recorded it with the intentions of releasing it on an indie label and worked with indie label producers, this however, is an obvious "major label debut" when it comes to the songwriting process.
