They were REALLY ON last night.

Highlight... Matt's tapping solos and the piano etude in Butterflies and Hurricanes. Insane.

Posted by jason | August 7, 2007 10:43 AM

Best part of the show was the rendition of Unintended. Crazy setlist, loved the show!

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 11:00 AM

Did anyone catch the Cold War Kids? How were they?

Posted by werd | August 7, 2007 11:01 AM

The Kids were amazing esp. with the MSG sound quality. Elvis Perkins/Dearland guys joined them with the horns for a couple of numbers. The Kids played one very new song (it wasn't "Jumpers.").

Most of the audience in GA was there for the Muse.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 11:08 AM

Cold War Kids were alright, I had higher hopes. Muse were amazing, hands down.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 11:14 AM

CWK were good, but Muse just rocked it out so hard. unbelievable show.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 11:19 AM

"oh man, i love radiohead cover bands"

Dumb comment.

Posted by CN | August 7, 2007 11:24 AM

I can't believe they got Unintended. Lucky bastards.

Posted by natalie | August 7, 2007 11:26 AM

those are great pics. AMAZING show last night - Muse just hit my top 5 live acts ever. That was incredible.

Posted by pujam | August 7, 2007 11:27 AM

and if you heard or were at the show last night -- the dumb, ignorant comments about them being liek radiohead or even worse, a radiohead cover band??? would be NULLIFIED.

they are they own and they OWNED IT LAST NIGHT!!!!

Posted by pujam | August 7, 2007 11:28 AM

i cant believe muse played msg.

Posted by L | August 7, 2007 11:36 AM

I am deaf today. The show was unreal.
CWK were great, tons of energy, but a real juxtaposition with the stripped down set and folksiness compared with the over the top sets and fashion of MUSE.

Posted by josef | August 7, 2007 11:45 AM

saw them on Sat night at Lollapalooza and they killed it. I imagine the sold out MSG show was even better. I mean, they opened with Knights of Cydonia... wow!

Posted by feelthebuzz | August 7, 2007 11:45 AM

Not only did they PLAY MSG, they killed the place. Great show. Other than some seats in the 400's (read: nosebleeders) the place was packed too. Figured they'd be better suited for Hammerstein before the show, but after having went they proved their MSG worthiness. I'm telling everyone that I've ever met who lives in the Boston area to check out Saturday's show because I was so impressed by last night's effort.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 11:46 AM

I was actually there to see the Cold War Kids who were great. Elvis Perkins and Deerland joined on a bunch of songs. First time seeing Muse and they was also great...This was one of the best shows I have seen this year.

Posted by nbflowers | August 7, 2007 11:47 AM

I liked everything about this show. The setlist didn't change much from last time I saw them, but it was amazing nonetheless. That kid who got on stage was funny, in other circumstances I would have been pissed, but even the band laughed at it. The security guys were, like, dumbfounded for a second and didn't know what to do.
Definitely one of the best live shows of the year!

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 11:52 AM

What a crappy name for a band. Someone needs to stop reading fantasy books.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 12:16 PM

Go on itunes. Every single album discription has the band "Radiohead" in it. Obviously its helping itunes sell their records.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 12:19 PM

"I mean, they opened with Knights of Cydonia... wow!"

I dislike that song. If that was one of the highlights of the concert, I'm glad I missed it.

Posted by someone not all that familiar with Muse | August 7, 2007 12:41 PM

They really are.

Posted by Muse are boring | August 7, 2007 12:52 PM

Best show of the summer.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 1:05 PM

cold war kids are boring ,as boring as illinois

muse best live band

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 1:12 PM

that was the best concert i've ever been to

just wrote an awesome review of the show with a 30 pic photo gallery and bootleg video of "Plug in Baby" with the balloons and all - check it out if you don't mind http://coedmagazine.com/entertainment/Music/1694

Posted by steve g | August 7, 2007 1:21 PM

muse was amazing, they do cheat with some backtracking however (3 people can't do all that!)

Posted by mina | August 7, 2007 1:23 PM

where is the Muse backlash for all the sampling they use like Blonde Redhead got on Monday..hmm???

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 1:30 PM

i saw them at lolla and as not impressed. thats about the best i can say about them.

Posted by nyc noise fan | August 7, 2007 1:42 PM

whoever said Radiohead Cover band is an idiot. It's just the voice and the slow songs. and if you had the slightest bit of music knowledge, you would know to say, "Jeff buckley imitator" but Matt admits to being very influenced by him.

people need to do their research before blabbing away

tis all...

Posted by David | August 7, 2007 2:30 PM

Amazing show and 'Unintended' was phenomenal! Matt said it may have been the first time they played it in the US.

Posted by ewalk | August 7, 2007 2:32 PM

great show. i was there to watch cwk actually and only knew two muse songs. cwk was good...i liked them better when i saw them in dc earlier this year though. the contrast between the two acts was pretty funny. cwk with their stripped down set and folksy-type of music compared with the awesome lights and theatrics of muse. it was one of the best concerts i've ever been to. i totally came away with the concert as a fan.

Posted by felicia | August 7, 2007 3:16 PM

Here is my review from last night...this show was f'n top notch!

steve g - those are some great photos!! oh man, makes me want to go back to last night. I am so impressed - now that my little friends, was a rock concert. next time, i'm getting pit tickets, screw 100s.

Posted by pujam | August 7, 2007 3:28 PM

Muse are far from being the next Radiohead. Just read Muse's lyrics. They're not very good lyricists. They heavily rely on their light show and people are eating it up.

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 3:51 PM

should i have heard of this band?

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 4:11 PM

was there a lot of moshing going on during their set?

Posted by Anonymous | August 7, 2007 4:25 PM

there were a bunch of little kids aimlessly tossing themselves into each other. I wish i had been in the pit to give them a crash course in how to run a pit.

Radiohead is an easy and lazy point of comparison. That's why iTunes uses it.

I'll be seeing Muse in two days and will be expecting nothing like a Radiohead show from a band that has very little to do with Radiohead anyway.

Posted by Drew | August 7, 2007 5:04 PM

What an amazing concert. I loved CWK and i said to my friend after their set "Do you think Muse could top that?" turns out they did

Posted by Jonathan | August 7, 2007 7:35 PM

Muse don't sample, asshole!

Posted by Shea | August 8, 2007 1:05 AM

muse have a keyboardist who plays with them live.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2007 10:22 AM

I can't really understand the presence of positive Cold War Kids reviews. I was there & was very disappointed. Uninteresting songs, un-energetic performance and pretty bad sound. The band even told us we were "lucky" that this group of guest musicians was to come on stage for the last song, which also sucked. How anyone who goes to shows in this city & has any decent standards could have loved their performance is so beyond me!
(Yeah Muse is/was awesome. It probably goes without saying, though, that this was not the ideal venue.)

Posted by Mike L | August 8, 2007 3:02 PM

My two buddies and I just drank while chilling in the concourse while CWK played. By the time Muse came on, we were ready... and holy crap did they rock our faces off.

Posted by CajoleJuice | August 8, 2007 3:28 PM

Sentimentalist Magazine was there too of course. Writer Carrie Alison's review and some amazing red hot pictures courtesy of editor Chris David are here....

I'm sorry--Radiohead does not even come close to Muse. They really don't. Black Holes is 10-1/2 times better than OK.....

But let the public believe what they want.

Posted by FJ | August 8, 2007 4:36 PM

Cold War Kids were very good. Two good bands who do totally different things with their music. It's silly to compare them.

Posted by Clare | August 8, 2007 4:38 PM

You cant compare Muse and Radiohead just because the lead singers voices sound a little bit the same. Its not like thats something they can do intentionally. I adore Radiohead just as much as I love Muse, but the two dont remind me of eachother.

Posted by Chris | August 8, 2007 6:06 PM

A general & friendly reminder folks:

Both bands reek.

Arguing over their merits is as ridiculous as fighting over why a pile of hot cow turd matters more than a puddle of stale horse piss.

Posted by Kid Crispy | August 8, 2007 6:50 PM

Did anyone write down the set list for Cold War Kids or get a hold of one? I dint recognize all of the songs which i am embarrassed to say

Posted by Jonathan | August 8, 2007 7:02 PM

Ah -- the old "bait us by saying Radiohead sucks" trick.

Not gonna work this time, buddy! YOU suck!
(If you argue with that, I win.
If you don't, I win.)

Posted by Mike L | August 9, 2007 1:00 AM

Muse is incredible, I caught the Philly show because I was getting back from Chicago (lola) that monday night. They were incredible in Philly and incredible in Chitown. The only problem I have with this tour is the Cold War Kids. They are the most overrated Indie band that I have been hearing about. I gave them a shot and it was just awful. The music is ok, but the singer must go. Everyone at Lola was going to see them, with that I just said, F that and was right up front for the Black Angels, a much better band that noone seems to want to like.
