how were the thermals compared to their other nyc-area gigs this year?

Didn't they play Siren a couple of years ago? I remember not liking them during that show (if it was them).

Amazing gig at Maxwells Friday night.

this show was tight, energetic and fun as hell. i like their albums a lot, but they don't do the live show justice.

great pics.

The crowd was decent Friday night at Maxwell's - but nothing remotely close to their shows earlier this year. Sunday's crowd was sedated like I've rarely seen at a Thermals show -what I'll attribute to a failure of critical density. The band themselves were awesome as always, playing Built to Spill's "Big Dipper" both nights, and the Cribs's "Martell" Friday night.

The Thermals go right to your head.
The Thermals have sex in your bed!

nothing to do with this link, but anyone know anything about Portugal the Man? I have tickets for tonight but not sure if they are worth seeing

The Thermals continue to rock my socks off! The Studio B gig earlier this year was still better, just because the vibe was so great and it wasn't outdoors in 95 degree heat.

i've seen them at all the nyc shows this year and i'm going to attribute the sedate crowd yesterday to the fact that it was hot as fuck outside. i know thats what made me feel dead.

I agree; very lame crowd at maxwell's on friday. They claimed that it was sold out, but there seemed to be huge void in the back of the room...

I saw them back in March at Bowery and they were amazing...Sunday was a good show but I don't think many in the audience knew their music v. a paid show indoors. Everyone was too busy getting fucked up on the slip n' slide. Seriously, two chicks were bleeding from slipping before hitting the slide.

Thermals were great. Dropped the guitarist that was with them at Studio B last time around and turned in a better performance---no problem with a large stage/crowd. They were tight and full of energy. Imagine the crowd was a bit subdued because of the heat.

they were so fun at mccarren, i really enjoyed there set. i'm a big fan but had never seen them live so it was good.

I had a shit ton of fun at the Maxwell's show, but it only seemed like the us up in front were really enjoying it.

you guys are crazy if you think that the energy was low on sunday. great set by the thermals - and the crowd (at least those that were within 50 feet of the stage) was loving every minute of it. this set really was the essence of a free summertime outdoor afternoon show in the big city. ted leo also rocked. fun afternoon was had by all.

The next time I see Big Sleep I'm bringing some damn Bactine... The gore was more than I had ever hoped...

Great set by both bands... I think Hoboken was cool for about 2 hours that night...
