DOWNLOAD: Okkervil River - Our Life Is Not A Movie Or Maybe (MP3)

I love this song, but after Ryan and I played it on the radio today I was saying how I don't necessarily feel as strongly as others about about the whole album. I like it - its just not one of my absolute favorites of the year....
"Our Life is Not a Movie or Maybe," the first video for Austin, Texas-based Okkervil River's The Stage Names, was directed by Margaret Brown, whose acclaimed documentary about Townes Van Zandt, Be Here to Love Me, was released theatrically in 2005 by Palm Pictures. Director Jonathan Demme hailed Be Here to Love Me as "a thrilling piece of pure cinema," adding that Brown "has moved the whole 'possibilities of film' thing a big leap forward, especially as regards the blending of film and music, image, sound and thought. "The New York Times' Stephen Holden called Be Here to Love Me "Impressive! A tender, impressionistic film biography," while Anthony Lane of the New Yorker elaborated that Brown conceived her movie, she says, to be "vinyl, not CD," and the ride of it does indeed deliver a rough-edged truth."Okkervil River - 2007 Tour Dates

the fact that they're playing kilby court in SLC is unreal. i imagine that show sold out in seconds. for those who don't know: kilby is about the size of, shit, i don't know, the bottom floor of club midway with the back half cut off. it's a garage. bands love playing there. nuts.

They're also playing a tiny place here in DC (Rock and Roll Hotel). It's about the same size as Mercury Lounge, maybe a quarter of the capacity of Webster (if that).
As for the album, I think I agree with you BV. It's good, but doesn't grab me the way the previous albums have.
