Voxtrot replacing The Coral on the Arctic Monkeys tour
Ramesh signing autographs in France - Aug 17, 2007 (CRED)

Some may have already noticed that The Coral suddenly disappeared from the upcoming Arctic Monkeys tour that includes a sold-out show at Central Park Summerstage in NYC (and also included a separate Coral show at Mercury Lounge). Well, good news for those who like Voxtrot. The Austin band will be taking The Coral's place. That means Voxtrot's upcoming NYC schedule looks something like this at the moment:
Sep 5 @ Summerstage (opening for Arctic Monkeys)
Oct 14 @ Music Hall of Williamsburg w/ The Little Ones (TIX)
Oct 15 @ Music Hall of Williamsburg w/ 1990s (TIX)
All Voxtrot tour dates (and more info) below....
From Voxtrot:
Oh, it's crazy times here at Voxtrot HQ. We were just getting ready for a couple of weeks back home, when the Arctic Monkeys rang up to see if we'd join them on their US tour. We said yes, of course. How could we pass that up? Unfortunately, as a result, it means that we're cancelling the rest of our European dates as well as the US west coast. The US dates will be rescheduled before the end of the year.SEPTEMBER
The UK single for "Firecracker" just got pushed back a week and will now be released on September 3rd. The a-side is a slightly reworked version of the track, while the b-side is called "Honey Bee", and was pulled from the LP sessions. It will be available on CD and 7-inch formats. If you pick it up via iTunes, you recieve a third song as well, called "Loan Shark". The two b-sides are currently streaming on Myspace.
We stopped by MTVu to film a Backstage Pass segment, which was pretty fun! You can see the results HERE.
We also played Siren Festival later that week, played skeeball with Lavender Diamond for Spinner.com, and sat down for a chat with Filter TV.For those of you who don't know about the new record yet, we're happy to fill you in. Our first full-length record is finally in stores worldwide! We recorded it with the amazing Victor Van Vugt (PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Luna) in Austin and NYC. The record is 11 tracks long, eponymously titled Voxtrot, and can be found via Playlouder/Beggars Group just about everywhere. We also want to point out that if you purchase the vinyl LP, you receive a coupon for a free digital/MP3 copy of the record. If you pick it up through iTunes, you get two bonus songs, "New Love" and "Loan Shark" as an iTunes Exclusive.
All eight Reaching For The Lasers mini-documentary episodes are now up! If you haven't seen them yet, you can find them at www.reaching4lasers.com, where you can also hear clips of the new record, find free desktop wallpaper and AIM icon downloads.

Though I tend to agree that Arctic Monkeys and Voxtrot is an odd pairing, I think the real issue here is that Voxtrot haters need a nice big hug.

The most recent Voxtrot album sounds like a collection of substandard Billy joel outtakes peddled on late night infomercials.

Woo Woo! Voxtrot is great. The new album is really good if you listen to it once again. Most of the haters of the new Voxtrot album probably have some form of A.D.D and can't pay attention to lyrics or intricate guitar work.
I wasn't planning on seeing the Arctic Monkeys, but since Voxtrot is on the bill, I just bought my tickets today.

Oh lord, Jonny Red. The new album is only good if you never heard their EP's. Because by comparison alone, it validates any form of hatred for them. And intricate guitar work? Plz. Just sell your tickets on craigslist for the show... All Ramesh does is freak out and try to make his boring songs livelier. It's awkward.

You're awkward.

Your mom is awkward.

Does anyone know what time Voxtrot will get onstage tomorrow? Don't want to miss them, but g-d, 6:30 is early to be at a show.
Posted by Anonymous | September 4, 2007 11:56 AM
Just talked to someone at Bowery Presents - they thought that the Arctic Monkeys would go on stage around 7:30, but they said to call back tomorrow to get a better idea.
Anyone else have any info?

I just called the mercury lounge box office and they said they don't have set times, but the first band (which i guess is voxtrot) is going on at 6:30, which would put the artic monkeys set at 7:30.
Posted by Duke | September 5, 2007 1:31 PM
Voxtrot myspace page says 6:00, arctic monkeys says 8:00...
