Kuntry Karaoke (with live band) at Rodeo Bar (corner of 27th St. and Third Ave.) on Sunday night. Rodeo Bar's Web site doesn't say what time it starts, though.

while on my way to seaport i got off on my usual spot, city hall station, at about 7 pm, and caught suzanne vega with a full 4 piece band. i didnt even know this was happening. she was great, played 1 h. 15 minutes new songs and old hits, finished with luka and toms diner (unfortunately the last one was marred by mic trouble). voice was top notch and crowd was great, maybe 300 or so people. quiet and listening to the songs. bruce hornsby is there today: http://www.jr.com/templates/music/promos/MusicFest2007.tem

walked to the seaport, just as i was getting there, camera obscura was hitting the stage. it was calm and mellow, pleasant show, would have like to see this show at union pool. 1 h 15 min show with a 2 song encore.

the crowd- where i was standing, in the back of the sound tent, and near the ticket boot- simply awful. probably the worst most disrespectful crowd ive ever seen at any event this year. constant chatter, loud talking over the music, shouting to their friends, high school cafeteria atmosphere. i would have said something to someone to shut the fuck up, but then i would have had to fight everybody there. too bad i didnt have a camera, 75% of people were not paying attention. if you were standing there you know how bad it was.

and btw- dana from the poolparties was at this show(the girl with star tattoos). she walked by us on the way out, she left early.

That's it? She didn't do anything interesting, like pee in front of you?

Camera Obscura were great from where I was standing (which was up against the gate in the very center).

Sucks there were a lot of douchebags in the audience. Luckily, I didn't notice them at all!

Posted by rocked the shit | August 25, 2007 11:55 AM

nyc noise fan-
Seems like you are in fact the douchebag and a loser to boot. Are you fucking kidding me with that? You were standing all the way in the back and of course there were people talking back there. If you had been up close like myself or others you would not have noticed this and you would have enjoyed the show with the rest of us.

But worse than all that was your ridiculous comment about dana from the pool parties being there

WHO GIVES A SHIT??????

Can we all please stop with this crap talking about nobodies like this ugly chick who runs up on stage or some fat moron like that darren guy who makes an ass out of himself

These people have nothing to do with the bands whose shows they go to. They dont have anything to do with creating the music. They mean nothing and seriously making mention of them being anywhere is really silly and pointless. Has the blogosphere gotten so boring and repatative that we have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for things to talk about. Even Andy Warhol would not have given these cretins the time of day.

Less than face value tix for tonight's BookEaters show available on CL now. Admittedly not cheap at $60 to start, but a good opportunity to play "ScalperEater" and see a bunch of great musicians in a more intimate (solo) setting.

There's a recent Pela show on http://punkcast.com/1166 - I hear they are losing their drummer.
