Kevin Drew in Boston

Last night's free, full-capacity, MySpace-sponsored "secret" show was an absolute sweaty blast, and marked the debut of the new incarnation of Broken Social Scene, which includes mainstays Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, and drummer Justin Peroff, along with three new faces: Andrew Kenny (of the dearly departed American Analog Set), Sam Goldberg (Hawaii, Uncut, Bodega), and Bill Priddle (who is actually a now-returned founding BSS member).
* last night Kevin Drew & friends played Boston
* Tonight Feist, Grizzly Bear & Broken Social Scene (Kevin Drew) play McCarren Pool
* O'Death & Death Vessel are playing the Spiegeltent
* The Meat Puppets & Oxford Collapse play Knitting Factory
* Jennifer Gentle, The Dodos & Phosphorescent are at Mercury Lounge
* VHS or Beta & Walter Meego are at Bowery Ballroom
* Doveman returns to Joe's Pub
* Dry Yai are at Joe's Pub too
* David Byrne recently visited the Red Hook ballfields
* RIP Hilly

What else?

TT's is arguably the best venue to see live music in Boston, too. That or the Middle East which is right next store. TT's only holds like 150 people. I bet it was a fantastic set.

um excuse me? TT's is horrible. the sound is absolutely atrocious in there. I think the sound guy just fucks it all up, you can never here what's going on. I think bands with a ton of musicians (like BSS) are the most handicapped.

Middle East (downstairs), Great Scott or the 'dise are all better.
