well i said it before, yeah yeah yeahs are turning into a teeny bopper band, with all their stupid promotions geared toward 16 year olds.

is that russel simmens of blues explosion?

yea he drums for tiny masters

tiny masters are fucking terrible. i don't give a shit that they're 15 or 12 or whatever and can play an instrument. you can't "learn" to play rock - you've gotta live it to play it.
Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2007 12:20 PM
Yep, I love it too. I didn't think I was going to listen to the YYYs much after Show Your Bones. Great EP.
Posted by Eduardo | August 2, 2007 12:25 PM
man you guys are gonna hurt these kids feelings with your really negative comments
they're impressive for their age regardless of whether or not they "live" rock the way you define it
Posted by Mom | August 2, 2007 1:35 PM
anyone want to sell a webster hall ticket?
Posted by yup | August 2, 2007 1:46 PM
so they're young - that doesn't hide the fact that they're one of the most derivative, uninspired, terrible acts around.
but apparently it doesn't matter because they're just oh-so-fucking cute with their guitars.
it's kitsche in it's purest form. who wants that nonsense.
Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2007 2:05 PM
hanson was good at being young.
I dont think age is an excuse.
its talent.
sorry kids

Good on Karen O for choosing a fresh young band rather than a stuffy old shoegazer indie act that nobody will remember, regardless of age. And what kind of a comment is "You can't learn to play rock"
Who the fuck are you, Steven Tyler?
Stop living in the 70's and accept that new bands with new blood are taking over.
Shame on you!

tiny masters are awesome
you can bitch about them not "living" rock or whatever (it's pretty hard to at 12ish years old don'tcha think?) but i can pretty much guarantee that you weren't that cool when you were their age.

do you people realize youre picking on little kids?
use your monthly stipend from mom and dad to get some therapy, please...how pathetic are your lives that youre jealous of 11 year olds?
despicable, spoiled fucks...enjoy nyu in the fall

Fuck Tiny Masters of Today and fuck Mute for signing these aesthetic mongoloids because their market share is shrinking so badly they need to inflict this crap on the public. At least Old Skull had some funny music behind them!
Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | August 2, 2007 2:44 PM
picking on little kids? they make music - shitty music as that - that's all i think anyone is saying.
we're not allowed to criticize music because they're youngsters? at what age is it ok to criticize and call out? is gender an issue? should we not "pick on" woman rockers too?
what about the grandma on the fiery furnaces record? is she fair game?
Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2007 3:04 PM
ooooo a philosopher!!! like i said, enjoy nyu in the fall

keep looking out for the kids of america MJ - they need you.
(just don't molest them)
you probably are the idiot i've seen around town wearing the smoosh t-shirt too.

Every single post on any subject on this blog has a million idiots chiming in "they suck" or other similarly insightful claptrap. Trolls are trolls but it is more glaring when they jump on some little kids doing something positive. As far as picking on women rockers goes, almost every post on this blog that features a woman rocker eventually ends up with a bunch of sexist comments. Beth Ditto, Meg White, Kimya Dawson- do a search for either of them and see how many idiots have horrible sexist things to say. As far as grandma goes, I didnt like that record particularly but I still wouldnt insult the old lady in a blog because she is probably nice and has done nothing to deserve it. Maybe if Brooklyn Vegan charged money to post, people would hold out unless they had something interesting to say
Posted by whinerssuck | August 2, 2007 3:32 PM
HONESTLY, WHO CARES???????
Sure, they're not fantastic. Whatever. But age IS an issue.
AT LEAST THEY'RE DOING IT.
They're young, making whatever the hell kind of music they want and LOVING IT.
So back off.
Way to go, kids. I only wish I had done it too.
Posted by Marina of Mayhem | August 2, 2007 3:34 PM
not so much looking out for the kids, just trying to promote a little decency...
(awaiting you next corny-ass comment...)
Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2007 3:35 PM
whinerssuck, I don't thonk the Beth Ditto comments are sexist at all. No one wants to see a chick who weighs deus-eighty run around naked. No one wants to see a fat dude either. Beth Ditto chooses to do that shit in public--therefore she gets her "balls" busted. Period.
Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2007 5:03 PM
and no one wants to see crappy music either - that's why the tiny masters get their's busted.
Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2007 5:13 PM
i spose they are marketed as "cute" and they are pretty cute kids i mean its not like they are these really fat ugly kids from some redneck wood and i spose not everyone who criticises them is some retarded weirdo who had an uncool childhood but have you seen them live? do you even like punk? why would these bands let them support them if they didnt think they were good? mute a very respectable record label is hardly gonna spend money on them cos they think they are a gimmick - i hate gimmick bands - i hated the darkness precisely because they were a gimmick band - now ive seen this band live a few times - i did think ada didnt really give her all on her bass guitar and strummed it a bit like it was her pet cat but both ida and ivan can sing - ok i kinda looked at them and thought yes id love to manage them ( i scout for bands) cos they are cute and cool and i never had younger brothers and sisters but they are a good punk band - they are great punk singers - i dont buy cds lightly and i will buy their cds. i think theres lots of reasons why people are nasty about bands - people are very passionate about bands and i think if kids are getting attention just cos they are cute its right they should get flack - but time will tell u critics/haters wrong - this band has the potential to be a big band - whether they will be or not is something different - there are so many variables - all they need is the right sort of lunatic to lead them - along with their parents - but your punk kid band needs a lunatic - i mean - would u give your kids to a lunatic?? ok so im ranting but guys - shut the fuck up yeah

"Trolls are trolls but it is more glaring when they jump on some little kids doing something positive."
What bullshit. Are we really giving out 11th Place prizes to these adolescent jackoffs now? Any kind of critique - even if it is the shorthand of "they suck" - is now either "trolling" or "haterade". I'd call your argument the intellectual equivalent of the "trophy wife", but I didn't know they were giving out trophies for last place. Also, just to sum up: Beth Ditto = tubby, Meg White = lazy drummer, Kimya Dawson = who GIVES a shit.
Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | August 2, 2007 10:44 PM
"Fuck Tiny Masters of Today and fuck Mute for signing these aesthetic mongoloids"
"adolescent jackoffs"
Let's get this straight, you come out of the gate with statements like that and do so with pride? I guess this is ok if you are under 16 but I suspect you are a college graduate adult who should be ashamed for calling an 11 year old girl a "jackoff". I would bet these kids just laugh this off but it certainly reflects poorly on you
So you don't like their music, who cares? that's not the point. The point is that you use an anonymous forum to spew profanity about little kids and heap abuse on anybody who doesn't share your view. It's kind of weird and more than a little sad. Do you ever post about anything you like?
Anyway, they always say never feed a troll
Posted by whinerssuck | August 3, 2007 7:39 AM
you know what these kids should be playing rock school shows or rock camp or whatever the fuck they are called, or battle of the bands or senior dance (8th grade) not goddamn webster hall, dont you think? record company segned them for one reason only - they are smelling all that allowance money grade schoolers are gonna be giving them for this cd (they hope). not any artistic or potential future reasons.
and yeah yeah yeahs- my god what a terrible thing they are doing by having this band open for them. ok i started by saying they are gearing more and more toward 16 year olds, but i think i should have said 12 year olds. this is a band that had ambition to be cutting edge, art band? what the hell are they doing? they should snap out of it and go back to being a serious band and cut this teeny bopper shit. it pains me to write this because im a big fan of this band and love their old cds but this is getting too much. and btw- i am not impressed by the new ep, from the first listen it sounded to me like outtakes from show your bones. old material warmed over, which is what it is, as we found out.
ok, thats my rant, bye.

I agree that Tiny Masters are contrived via Russel. There is a band in Park Slope called Care Bears on Fire. They kill it. I have seen both bands back to back...and there is no comparison.

That's the entire POINT of anonymous forum, twinkletoes! Heaping abuse and spewing profanity has been the sine qua non of this particular exercise for many moons now. Look, mom, I sorely doubt that these kids even care about this site or my comments. I'm sorry you feel so sad about them. It's okay to cry. Tell dad dinner's ready.

Hey JC.
Quit hyping your band kid, its tacky. Tiny Masters definitely have a better drummer anyway.

who are you people? everyone loved tiny masters at the show at webster hall. they cheered them on when they came back onto the stage to strike their equipment. sticking it to the man was a great song, and the crowd loved it. the kids liked what they were doing.

Hey I'm only about a year older than the boy and I must admit I don't like the music either. Plus I find the lyrics a bit stupid.

I think people should repsect the fact their opinion is their opinion. I personally think their music is terrible, but thats just me and it works for some people. There's no point in saying insulting things about them. They haven't done anything wrong. They're making the music they want to make, enjoying themselves and alot of people like it. If you don't like it listen to something else and respect them for what they're doing. That's what I do. And even if the music is bad, they have good meanings for their songs and it's bringing back the spirit music had in the 60s and 70s about anti-establishment that cares about stuff that has been lost. Most adult bands just write simple love songs, and here we have pre teens writing music with more intelectual value than most music on the radio.
