Calvin Harris played Mercury Lounge
Calvin Harris @ Mercury Lounge, NYC - Sep 12, 2007 (CRED)

Calvin Harris is as charismatic as he is tall. At 6'5", that's a fair amount of charm. This was Calvin's U.S. debut, his album I Created Disco hit our stores the day before -- though it was obvious nearly everyone at the Mercury Lounge was well-versed with the songs and ready to dance. He didn't disappoint the crowd. [Sound Bites]Music Snobbery also has a review. More on Calvin Harris in this week's Week in Dance.

The band was a joke - it was like Milli Vanilli.

I thought it was great. Good energy, crowd up front was pretty into it which made it a good dance party. F*!@ milli vanilli!

apart from the drummer, the "band" was faking it. badly.

What's with the charades band?

Apart from the backing vocals, which were clearly canned, I think the band was actually playing. If not, I was fooled.
Gabby Glaser was kind of bad. It was like the kind of blues rock you could hear any night of the week on Bleeker St.

Yeah besides the backing vocals, the band was playing. I don't see what the big deal is. It was a great dance party and Calvin Harris sounded right on live.

I concur that the band was playing. This show did not disappoint one iota... you had to dance your ass off. I thought it was the best show i've seen in a while.
