Hold Steady played a free show @ the World Trade Center

the Hold Steady @ 7 WTC, NYC - Sep 17, 2007 (CRED)
Hold Steady @ 7 WTC

The Downtown Music Series debuted to a packed plaza at the base of the brand new 7 World Trade Center last night. With the state of the art 7 WTC behind them, and the 6-year-old Pit on their right, The Hold Steady performed a tight one-hour set primarily consisting of material from Boys and Girls in America. [NYCTaper taped the show]
M Ward played the next night. Tonight's free show is Nick Lowe, Holmes Brothers & Ollabelle. The Hold Steady is going on tour with Art Brut.

after that prospect park performance in august, i think hold steady are a bit of a joke these days. craig is just plain annoying and the music is a pretty cheesy version of springsteen meets king missile.

if only i could turn back time and go to daft punk instead

hold steady needs some new songs, fast! what ever happened to an album/year?

Daft Punk is great. I cannot wait for their live DVD

I like turtles.

It felt like Woody Allen trying to sing Springsteen songs. I think their music is good, but they just try to hard live. It looks so fake.

They try too hard?
Two dudes with a gigantic pyramid and spacesuits doesn't come off as trying too hard?

Hold Steady just gets up there and does their thing, it's not an act at all.

The Prospect Park show was lots of fun, the WTC show was a little less fun, but still good.

"Party Pit" was perhaps an unfortunate choice.

until you realize that it has nothing to do with an actual "pit"...it helps when you listen to lyrics before connecting two things that have nothing in common.

Perhaps trying to be clever on message boards is an unfortunate choice.

it was a really fun show. helps that it was free too.

here's a novel concept, if you don't like the band or their singer, don't go to their show.

hold steady are kids menu chicken fingers and fries bar rock for o'doul's drinkers.

i would wipe the floor with these wusses.

the hold steady did come out with an album this year, and last year, and the year before that.....

i would say 3 solid albums in 3 years is pretty fucking good. everyone really needs to just give this band credit for who and what they are and stop being such a judgemental douche.
