Both shows were great. I think Saturday's show was just a little better but the crowd on Friday was much much better. Also it is worth noting that Cheeseburger almost upstaged LSF, but not really

what time did les savy fav go on at bowery? cause i was gonna go but i had work till 11

cheeseburger is all gimick, lsf is half gimick. cheeseb had to throw pinata around, spit beer, and break fake bear bottles to get everyone to forget that their songs are paper thin. lsf is a bit more genuine at least. they gave away a check for a 1000 to a 7 year old.

Hey Ed - when you want to rag on people use proper grammar, you retard.

i pay to see fat saggy balls all the time

Posted by fuckwebsterhall | September 24, 2007 3:43 PM

Let's hope there's not going to be a Les Savy Fav sex tape any time soon.

Cheeseburger is a lame AC/DC ripoff, thirty years too late. Terrible. Thankfully you can ignore the band while at the backbar, unlike the Bowery.

I love LSF, but the MHoW show was a bit mediocre. I picked up the new album at the show, and I think it's good, but the song selection at the show wasn't the best. Still, I am batting 5 for 6 at LSF shows.

And what's up with MHoW? I waited 20 minutes to enter because they were having capacity issues.

Was anybody at the Friday gig in W'burg?
Was it just me or was that photographer in the front a pain in the ass?

She snapped away with flash on the ENTIRE F*CKING gig. Learn your trade - no flash, take your pics and leave us to enjoy the gig, and learn how to point a camera. Half the time her aim was feet wide of the mark.
That's not skill that's point and HOPE.

And then if you're going to take crowd shots - do a few, pref without the flash. Don't blind us with endless attempts at trying to get a lucky photo.

thanks DB. A lot of newbie photogs out there who have no idea how to do this without making a pitiful ass of themselves. (I bet this same girl was at the Sebadoh show at Europa.)

the bowery show was incredible, as usual from LSF. has anyone been able to track down the video from where tim harrington grabbed the guy's camera and swung it around... or is anyone aware of who owned the camera and where the video might show up in the future?

Posted by gt | September 24, 2007 8:34 PM

Cheeseburger sucked. They were atrocious. Nowhere near LSF's level of entertainment.

Anybody see opening band Fatal Flying Guiloteens??

Posted by Cheese | September 24, 2007 11:44 PM

yo, i completely agree with DB. that girl kept getting in my fucking way. honestly, i am patient enough to let photographers take pictures and do their thing but it seemed like every five minutes she'd be moving in front of me or the same other people to take her badly shot photos.

Unfortunately, digital cameras made wannabe Bob Gruens out of most dumbasses.

The normal rule is the live photographers setup only for the first 3 songs. Idiots like the one at the show don't get it.

tim harrington has a great underwear collection!

You people are insane. Cheeseburger fucking rules.

so yeah, anyone have any idea on the location of that video?

Posted by gt | September 25, 2007 9:59 PM

Sorry but Cheeseburger is a good solid rock band. If you want to wear goofy hipster getups and talk about your Williamsburg cred than I think LSF is probably the band for you.

playa haters,

that photographer in the front would be me. my terrible live music photos can be seen as full-page shots in 3 of the last 4 issues of Spin Magazine. Or as slideshows for the Village Voice.
And sometimes right here on Brooklyn Vegan

Here's the Les Sav Fav shots, which were for Impose Magazine.
http://www.imposemagazine.com/mag/?p=2335

i use a wide-angle. ain't nothin' "off-the-mark" -- it's a way to get context.

P.s. I hope you all enjoyed the hour of free vodka at the afterparty, because that came from me personally - oh wait you're all underage.

I don't know what you retards are talking about but her photos are great.

That's what photographers do -- get up front and snap away. Find something substantial to complain about.

And her stuff in is Spin. Is your stuff in Spin?
No, your stuff is not in Spin.

Posted by Seva | September 28, 2007 1:20 PM

Getting your stuff in Spin doesn't mean you know how to be subtle while your shooting. I see a lot of photographers at the same shows who don't have to take over and dominate the whole damn area in front of the stage. Ever heard of Joly from Punkcast? Yeah, he has a bad rep for interfering with everyone's enjoyment of the show. Seems like you're gunning to compete with him for "most obtrusive nyc personality at live shows." Not such a great honor. Maybe you should hang back and watch how others do it. Sometimes getting the shot (with a wide lens no less, no wonder you have to be up people's noses) is not all that matters in a room filled with over 500 people.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2007 11:41 AM

Annie Liebowitz and Bob Gruen never got in people's way to get good photos. Rebacca seems to think that's the only way to get pictures. Sure, in the days of digital photography, you can take a thousand pictures and hope that a few turned out good. Bob Gruen does not need to take a thousand pictures.

BTW, is Spin still around?
