Mo Pitkin's is closing October 20th (or so they say)

Comedian Carolyn Castigilia is confirming that Mo Pitkin's is in fact closing its doors forever on October 20th. Carolyn is the producer of Chicks and Giggles, "a weekly showcase of the best female comics in New York" (at Mo Pitkin's). The last Chicks and Giggles will now take place on October 16th @ 8pm (free), and stay tuned to Mo's schedule for even more special last events.
The NY Post first broke the story earlier this month - that Mo's was for sale and might close at some point. That was followed shortly thereafter by a denial letter that didn't really deny anything, and now this - which if totally true, is even sooner than I imagined.

And so the ancient Jimmy Fallon curse continues continues unabated

'Tis a shame. I actually liked going there occasionally, despite the Jimmy Fallon co-ownership.

Did anyone really care in the first place?

"Did anyone really care in the first place?"
-I sure as hell know I didn't.

"Did anyone really care in the first place?"
Do you hear yourself? Honestly, read that out loud to yourself and take a listen. Do you hear how snide and obnoxious you sound? Congratulations, you're an asshole.
Of course people care. People that work there care, people who perform there care, people who frequent Mo's care. Is your head stuck so far up your own ass that you can't even fathom that anyone could enjoy a place that you don't?
Actually, now that I think about it, that is the perfect comment for you to make. It reaks of your need to know what people like or dislike, probably so you can allign your own tastes to theirs. What's it matter if anyone really cares. Do you care? Better yet, would you if everyone else did? I'm thinking probably. I couldn't be more sick and tired of deuche's like you.
I've been to Mo's once, and I thought it was great place.

"do the people who post on here like anything?"
-of course we like some things. however, my grievances of mo pitkins have to do with the couple of times i have been in there to sit in the back and watch bands play i have had rude service. as a result i am indifferent towards this establishment.

Kind of indifferent about this place except for the fact that when my band played there they never at any point mentioned that there was a 2 drink minimum. needless to say this came as a surprise to my friends who had already paid a $5 cover. I don't care if you charge a drink minimum but to never mention it at any point when we're negotiating a night of bands is beyond lame.

good riddens to disgusting food, and yet another venue devoted to lower east side has beens that never were.

never been here, but i do love hating on things in general, so good riddance

Ditto on the neon sign. Always bugged me.
In general, I've stopped sobbing over all the closing small live music venues in Manhattan. It's simple: soon it wall all be in Brooklyn. You'll have to go there to see smaller shows. The sooner people accept that and accept that Manhattan will very soon be pretty much irrelevant (as far as small clubs go) the less gnashing-of-teeth all around.
And, btw, I don't live in BK.

for real...in about 3 years a person will need to make 100k/year to live in a crappy manhattan apt
