Ironically, one of the most beautifully talented artists to ever grace these pages. And it's opera!

Pavarotti was an icon in the truest sense of the word. A few years back, when I was in the midst of a particularly crippling depression, it was Pav's recording of Puccini's Nessun Dorma that really helped me transcend those dark times. I am a firm believer in the restorative properties of opera. My his music live on for generations and generations. Arrivederci, Signore!

I feel your pain in grief. He'll be teaching the angels how to really sing! God Bless Him and You.

We shall dearly miss a man who was so much more than just a singer. He was a family man, surrounding himself with family after a concert. A true legend who has left an enormous legacy and enormous void to fill. Strange how truly famous people don't show up in the gossip magazines or take money for access to their wedding. He just went out to sing, as he says, as well as he could every single time he took the stage or got behind a studio microphone.

Having been lucky enough to have met Pavarotti and to have sung on the same stage as him, I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing. A great man with so much talent and so much love for what he did and for his family.
My condolences go out to his family and especially his little 4yr old daughter.

This is such sad news! I used to listen to him on a La Boheme record with my mom. I should call her.

O.K., I don't mean to speak ill of the dead, but this needs correcting:
"Strange how truly famous people don't show up in the gossip magazines..."
He was once alleged in the gossip pages to be having an extramarital affair. That's just what I remember; his name may have popped up on the gossip pages in connection with scandal on other occasions as well. (What do you mean by "truly famous," anyway? What does it mean to be faux famous?)

Something wrong is happeneing in heaven's chorus.
God calls Luciano to teach angels how to sing.
Now, the "Maestro" will sing as he always wanted:
TO THE WHOLE UNIVERSE FOREVER.
Thanks "Maestro" for all the moments and feelings you share with us.
GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS !

Um, a couple of sentences to mention Pavarotti died and then whole essays devoted to some publicist-heavy-indie-rock bands and Kid Rock?!??! Come on BV you're better then this. A retrospective on the guys career, a paragraph would have been better don't you think?

Pavarotti and James Brown was just wonderful, I listen to it everyday. Pavarotti just has a unique gift of singing anything.
