Scott Matthew & Scott Matthews
Scott MatthewScott Matthews

Brooklyn's Scott Matthew is best known for writing several songs for John Cameron Mitchell's movie Shortbus. He plays Zebulon in Brooklyn on September 30th.

The UK's Scott Matthews plays Joe's Pub in NYC tonight (Sept 24). He has toured with the Foo Fighters, and in October he's going out on tour with Rufus Wainwright.

Both white, male, quiet, folkie, soothing, singer-songwriters. Which one do you think would win in arm wrestling?

Not a lot of people have heard Scott Matthew's collaboration with composer Yoko Kanno, and those have been tremendous. He's got quite a unique and touching voice, so I'm definitely going to see him.

I vote for the one without the stupid hipster douchebag beard. Let me guess: the one from Brooklyn has the beard? I bet he rides a fixed-gear bike as well.

Some people like beards. Plus, you might as well add "reading Brooklyn Vegan" to your list of hipster cliches. Why so self-hating? Let love in!

Scott Matthew is positively brilliant. If you are aware of him and want more, check out his long-lost band from the early part of the century, Elva Snow, a band Scott founded with Spencer Cobrin, ex-Moz collaborator. Their only commercially available EP is still buyable on CD Baby or through Scott's myspace page. Really amazing band, sadly defunct.

The british Scott Matthews is wonderful, and has a good mix of songs. One of my most favorite albums.
