Kate Nash @ Summer Sunday, Leicester (CRED)
Kate Nash @ Leicester

Ends up Kate Nash's show at Luna Lounge tonight (Sept 24) is free (and not on September 26th as originally reported). psnyc reports this official message:

The Kate Nash show at Luna Lounge is happening on Monday, September 24th. However, as a result of a problem with Kate Nash's U.S. visa application, Kate has agreed to play for free! Here are the details. If you have already paid for your tickets, you must request a refund from TicketWeb. Next, when you come to the show, you must bring ID because we will have your name on our list of people who will be allowed entry into the show. You will receive your refund from TicketWeb in about 10 days. If you have not already purchased tickets, and you would like to attend the show, we will allow an additional 100 people free admission on a first come, first served basis.
According to a commenter, refunds will also be given to those who purchased tickets for her sold out Joe's Pub shows (Tuesday night) as well (aka they are also now free). (and thanks Hiro!)

her shows at Joe's Pub are tomorrow night..they are also free..however anyone who paid will get their money back at the door but they are still sold out so no more admittance unlike the luna lounge..

Oh weird, thanks. I guess I got confused because in the original set of tour dates I posted, Luna Lounge was listed after Joe's Pub. I guess that date was wrong or changed. thanks, fixing!

Joe's Pub called me yesterday and said that the record label has decided to make it an "invite only" show and anyone who purchased tickets for either show is now admitted for free and will get their money back at the door..

reading the luna lounge explanation my interpretation is that she wasn't able to obtain a work visa so she can't make any money off the shows but can get into the country..rather then stiff the fans they are making them freebees..

Damn, I missed the title and I thought this thread was about Urge Overkill.

This is a very classy move. She could've just cancelled the shows, but instead she opted to play. Good on you, Kate Nash.

Does anybody know if there's someone opening for her tonight?

A free show in Williamsburg for people who arrive early?? Shouldn't it be free admission for the first 100 who get there right as she goes on, stands in the back and talks loudly throughout the set?

anybody successfully "request" a "Refund" from Ticketweb?

I received a refund from ticketweb. It was easy.

the opener was jenny owen youngs.

Jenny Owen Youngs was REALLY good. I'm not much into girl-with-a-guitar music, but I found her strangely captivating. Sad songs interspersed with humorous interjections in-between. Too bad about the crowd, who chatted through her set.

Kate Nash was very good, but seemed a bit awkward during the three or four songs on which she played guitar. When she was behind her keyboard, she was really in her element - really good stuff.

Jenny Owen Youngs was ok. Her first couple of tunes were good, but the rest weren't of note at all. That excludes however, her cover of "Hot in Herre" by Nelly was excellent.

Kate Nash was wonderful. Her band really brought it and her voice is even more impressive in person. A class act.

boy, that comment about the talking in the back of the room was spot on. during jenny's set it was embarrassing there was so much noise. probably not the best choice for an opener but given one of her songs was i assume titled what the fuck was i thinking, i guess she had no problem with it. but the room not being particularly crowded, the noise level where i was sitting was horrendous. nb: i'm used to spaces in manhattan where there is no room at all between people for big club shows, and i was surprised there was room in the back. i also thought luna lounge was still in manhattan so...

the level of chatter during the opening act last night was a total disgrace..have some respect..and what about all the cell phone rings going off during kate's encore..she jokingly asking everyone to turn their phone's off..

This was my first time at the Luna Lounge and I have to say I was horrendously disappointed by the disrespectful crowd. I drove from Philadelphia to see the performance, not to hear the guy next to me (near the front) babbling on at high volume to his friend about his "soul mate". If you intend to chat loudly through the opening act, please do the others in the room the courtesy of moving to the back of the room - or even better - SHUT THE FUCK UP for an hour and give the artist the respect that he or she deserves.

From the looks of her, her name should be Kate Nasty.
