Meg WhiteWell, I guess that solves that. The White Stripes and Arcade Fire were scheduled to play at the same time at Austin City Limits this upcoming weekend. Now I know who I'll go see at that time (still haven't decided between MIA & LCD Soundystem or Wilco & My Morning Jacket though).....

Producers were informed today that Grammy-award winning band The White Stripes are canceling their Austin City Limits Music Festival performance, scheduled for Saturday, September 15. As of the time of this release, medical reasons have been given for the cancellation.

The White Stripes were scheduled to play on the AT&T stage at 8:30 pm to close out the night at the Festival. At this time, a replacement has not been announced.
I guess that also means more people will be looking for another afterparty to go to, since The White Stripes were also supposed to play one of the official (sold out) aftershows at Stubb's. Thanks to everyone who emailed me about this, and let's hope that the medical reason is not serious.

the Austin-American Statesman is reporting Muse will replace the Stripes for that not. Hmm...

Well obviously based on your photo and tags, you're implying you are acknowledging the rumor about Meg. Just come out with it if that's the case.

Stereogum is reporting a nervous breakdown.

Wow! She has got a nice set! I had no idea. And I've got a really good eye for these things.

Well one, no matter how much your precious outlets tell you the opposite, James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem suck.

MIA = Nena Cherry, more like it.

Did she pop out of a time capsule?

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2007 12:58 AM

sever anxiety....= yayo

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2007 12:59 AM

Someone please help MIA find the portal back to 1986.

Everytime I see a "LCD < " I gotta comment... I like both, but you are WRONG.

Ticketmaster does not return convenience fees, about $11 per ticket for Chicago. Thank you Meg for making your fans spend money that they will never see again! Not to worry, I will recoup the money on my own by downloading your next album for free.

Anon. 7:22 AM, you're an asshole and a liar — when Morrissey canceled his MSG and PNC Bank Arts Center shows earlier this year, Ticketbastard kept only a few bucks per ticket when they gave me back my money.

yeah next time i see either one im gonna say "wheres my fucking 11 dollars mr/mrs rockstar douchebags?"

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2007 8:56 AM

Finally got to hear MIA the other day after months of hype. I don't get it - how is it different then every other crappy z100 dance record from the past 20 years? Are indie people really that impressed that she uses that Pixies chorus?

This came from the White Stipes around 10pm last night...

The White Stripes announced today that they are canceling their forthcoming tour due to health issues. Meg White is suffering from acute anxiety and is unable to travel at this time.

The White Stripes sincerely apologize to their fans.
"We hate to let people down and are very sorry."

I hope she's not back on the drugs. Word was she and JW from Soledad Brothers were huge junkies while the WS were on their way to the top. Heard she went straight, and from the looks of 'filing out' seems true. Hope she hasn't slipped back now that they are playing bigger venues than ever, and Jack is taking her to play weird shows in Canada.

Please it fails as dance, it fails as rock, it fails as any hybrid, it even fails as cliched hipster music. It's bland, you're bland, and this whole manufactured scene and marketing gimmick is full of bland forgettable bands. Please.

MC Hammer>LCD

At least "Can't Touch This" has good beats and is danceable.

LOL @ attempting to insult MIA. It always comes off as pathetic and reaching.

Posted by Chris | September 12, 2007 1:29 PM

Go see My Morning Jacket. They are the best living American rock band to date and no one else compares. Oh, and Meg White has nice tits.

Posted by right on | September 12, 2007 2:20 PM

MIA is adequate dance music. let's not pretend that she's revolutionary in any way shape or form, people.

LCD has some good tunes, but damn some of it reminds me of a car alarm that won't shut off.
The other day I had it on and my dad asked me if my radio was broken.

Posted by Kurt C. | September 12, 2007 4:34 PM

its good to see that im not the only one who thinks that both lcd and mia are complete shit. ugh.

Posted by Anonymous | September 12, 2007 11:14 PM

My ears and feet are my "precious outlets". They tell me LCD is hot. Ridiculously deep rhythms, and the tightest live drummer I've seen in ages.
I enjoy myself much more at LCD shows than at White Stipes, MIA, or any other show for that matter. Jack White killed it, so I like them, and I saw MIA at V-Fest which was fun... it's just, they are no LCD. Have you seen them live?
Don't hate on James...
