This album is amazing to me.

I think part of the reason for some of the backlash is that it needs to be taken in the context of the other 6 albums..But, rythmically, this is epic. Some of these songs are extremely inspiring and while Kid A or OK Computer can be considered "better" albums, as a radiohead fan, this is the most listenable album...a fusion of 6 great albums (6 colors in the rainbow)....

do yourself a favor and listen to this a couple of times...a band that is innovative without trying to be innovative.

Posted by yo | October 12, 2007 1:58 PM

there are 7 colors in a rainbow.

awesome album.. i am actually dissapointed by that number, it should be ten times that! cmon people its FREE to try!

indigo doesn't count

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:16 PM

it never does.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:21 PM

anyone know of an easy way to offer music like they did? is there a service or a system that allows pay-whatever-you-want and personal download links?

my band wants to get our EP out and we pretty much want to do exactly what radiohead did.

Posted by Evan | October 12, 2007 2:23 PM

just got round to downloading it. fucking hell. why do other bands bother?

Posted by bobby | October 12, 2007 2:24 PM

so 1.2 million downloads = $20.82 ?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:27 PM

I've never been a huge fan, just liked a couple songs here and there. But I cannot stop listening to this record! It really is incredible.

Posted by Wackamole | October 12, 2007 2:30 PM

indigo = not a real color

Posted by marc | October 12, 2007 2:33 PM

so if you figure 10 % of that 1.2 million bought the box set and then downloaded the album, they just made 9.2 mil dollars ? or even if 5% thats 4.8

fuck how about just 1 % thats 960K in two days

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:40 PM

Great album.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:42 PM

same as always...

its radiohead. its amazing. period.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:44 PM

"cmon people its FREE to try!"

I did try it for free ... from BitTorrent.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:44 PM

yes, it is a very accessible record, very easy for anyone to digest. I think it's awesome they embraced elements of R&B and jazz percussion into their sound. makes things interesting for a change. the more you listen the more you realize.

Anon 2:40-

You seem to be forgetting that it actually costs money to make the things. I doubt they're making much of a profit on them.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:49 PM

i find it sad that the money is finally going to the artists directly and people are being cheap bastards. i download pretty much everything for free for the obvious reasons. now we have the chance to support an artist and we cant even give a penny.

cheap bastards.

obviously radiohead doesnt need the money but it wouldnt hurt to support. A couple dollars for a radiohead album doesnt sound like much to ask

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:54 PM

249 you seem to have a box set up your ass, no?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:54 PM

^^^^ What?

They're making a killing, are you nuts? They're getting close to all of the profits from the online venture.

It doesn't cost THAT much to record an album, relatively speaking (easily well under a million).

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 2:56 PM

anon 249 seeeeeeeems to be forgetting he is a turd sandwich

Posted by peter | October 12, 2007 3:00 PM

just to clarify - i was the first poster - i was referring to those drawings, not the album

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 3:02 PM

I am talking about the cheap bastards who dont buy it..my point is if your ever going to support an artist the time to do so is now when rich suit fuckers arent taking there cut.

i know there making a shitload
thats not the point

douche bag

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 3:11 PM

whose a douche bag?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 3:15 PM

There will be a proper CD in the new year, with proper sound, if you want to "support" the band. They'll get my $8, $10, $12, whatever, at that time.

And when they tour, that's when I'll be spending the big bucks.

Posted by drewo | October 12, 2007 3:22 PM

that album artwork in this post is terrible. http://www.greenplastic.com/ has some that look slightly better and might be more authentic.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 3:23 PM

Anon 2:54:

Actually it's a discbox. And yes it is quite uncomfortable.

Posted by Anon 2:49 | October 12, 2007 3:52 PM

The album truly is amazing! I can't stop listening to it!! Hope they tour soon!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 3:58 PM

I was also too lazy to "buy" the album. Torrent. I'll pay for the box set when it is released. And yes, its great.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 4:00 PM

Suck it, Kanye and 50!

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 4:12 PM

people, why the hell are you using "Torrent."? YOU CAN GET IT FOR FREE FROM RADIOHEAD'S OWN WEBSITE. damn, America, read a fucking blog or two.

Posted by danideluna | October 12, 2007 5:05 PM

"people, why the hell are you using "Torrent."

Because I can. Why would I want to get it from the Radiohead site?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 5:35 PM

I wonder what the highest amount paid was so far.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 5:55 PM

The new album is brilliant, but I'm tickled that it was Radiohead that innovated like this -- what other band would have the balls to ante up? Others can try, but there's only one trail-blazer. A close second would be William Hung, a genius in his own right:

Posted by Michael Parkatti | October 12, 2007 6:05 PM

I paid $1435 for it. I didn't understand the pound conversion thing.

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 6:05 PM

I think the highest # you can put in is 99 quid, so about $200. It's worth $1435, but I don't think you can pay that

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 8:27 PM

this is the best album ever

Posted by johnny | October 12, 2007 11:16 PM

i really like the bass playing on this album.

Still waiting to hear in on vinyl. (Only way to listen to radiohead IMHO

Posted by Anonymous | October 13, 2007 3:09 PM

first 10.1 album rating in pitchfork history?

i think so.

Posted by Anonymous | October 13, 2007 3:15 PM

Looks like Saul Williams and Trent Reznor have taken the Radiohead model one step further.
