Band of Horses are the secret Blender band
In case there is any confusion. Counting Crows are also playing CMJ, but they aren't the secret band listed on this flyer.

When is Counting Crows playing? Not that I care but I saw a big sign last night at Gramercy Theatre that said "Counting Crows".

I walked into the Spoon show about halfway through last night. They didn't check my badge or my RSVP--just my ID.

What time do you think Band of Horses is going on?
Posted by Anonymous | October 19, 2007 12:37 PM
How was Spoon? What'd they play?
Posted by Anonymous | October 19, 2007 12:56 PM
question -- how exactly do you get into this show (without a badge) and has anyone had any luck with the rsvp thing? is it too late to rsvp?
thanks.

rsvp thing is a joke as usual. you wait in line (if there is even a line) and they ask as u come in whether u have a badge or if u are on the list and that is that. they dont look anything up. basically they let people in as much as capacity fits and as people leave, they let more people in.

Spoon was actually like 1/4 empty last night...

Posted by Anonymous | October 19, 2007 3:47 PM

Posted by Anonymous | October 19, 2007 3:49 PM
think it'll be crowded at 2am? (honestly)
Posted by Anonymous | October 19, 2007 4:52 PM
not at all
Posted by Anonymous | October 19, 2007 7:43 PM
really wanted to see BOH, and got in around 1. wasn't that crowded, but that opening band was so (not nice word), i had to leave.
Posted by j | October 20, 2007 2:35 AM
Am I reading that correctly? You got into the free show wanting to see BOH but left because you didn't like the opening band?
::long pause::

too bad you left, j. ben bridwell has some a very impressive set of pipes and he was quite generous with them tonight. though i agree the opening act was [________].

the opening act was less than inspiring.
but band of horses destroyed with joyful thunder. they are not "cool". they are a badass southern rock band with three guitars.

band of horses killed it last night. granted i've only seen them twice, so i'm not sick of the set yet, but their new material fits in really well. ben's voice can fill up a room like that on its own, ok with the help of some reverb, but still. agree, maccabees were pretty bad, and i had to convince friends to stay for BOH.

yeah. macabees totally suck. band of horses show was kind of disappointing. they had sellout written all over them, from they're fancy jeans and expensive boots and perfectly coiffed hairdos and fancy shiny guitars. it was really disppointing. on top of that the crowd was full of jocks and frat boys and sorority girls which made me gasp when they played funeral, knowing that all these douche bags were co-opting a song that was very personal and intimate to me. the whole place wreaked of stinky corporate greedy sell out shit. so sad to see talented performers sell out in such a big way. but i'm sure that they are laughing all the way to the bank with their fancy hair and fancy clothes bought for them by their expensive fancy stylist. i have tickets to see them again. but i'm opting out of it. at least they didn't play "no one's gonna love you more than i do." it's one of they're better songs on the new album and at least i didn't have to share it with a bunch of lame fraternizing drunk corporate whores.

the maccabees suck?! whaaaat! no.
Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2007 6:45 PM
(not sarcastic either) were they really that bad? every time i've seen them they've been amazing.

^^^^ This dude is the ultimate hipster - total disdain for authority. You rock, rock!

The problem was the crowd at Blender, not BoH's fault. Badge holder's with no interest in the band at all... they should have come downstairs to the bar to chat there instead. BoH were fantastic.

To all you people who seemed to have paid so much more attention to the relative "authenticity" of the crowd rather than the (really amazing) band, I can only shake my head and suggest that you get over yourselves. I had a teacher tell me that once, and though it took a few years to sink in, I now realize how wise those words are.
Get over yourselves, you "authentic" assholes, and enjoy the music.
Sure I was shouting down the stupid announcer and the dude dressed in the archer uniform, and I thought the space was absurdly branded too, but it didn't stop me from appreciating the tremendous performance.

to hipster mod douche
well at least being an ultimate hipster is better than being a corporate douche bag drone.
