Bon Iver @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC - Oct 16, 2007
BV showcase

Amazing show start to finish last night at Bowery Ballroom. Thanks all who came. Thanks all who played. Sorry about Miracle Fortress. Bon Iver was amazing. Come see him again at his only other CMJ performance - at Pianos this afternoon (Oct 17), but get there early - space upstairs at Pianos is of course limited - get there really early for (more good music and) free drinks.

Everyone else who played was amazing too. More pics below.....

I LOVED this show. The stand outs for me were The Most Serene Republic and Dean and Britta. 2 AMAZING acts.

This show exceeded expectations. UNBELIEVABLE

Super fun evening from start to finish - the music was fantastic, the crowd was having a blast and great energy filled the Bowery. Thanks BV!

bon iver was BY FAR the highlight of the night. the set was transcendent and literally brought tears to my eyes. BV i really hope that he gets to play a longer set tonight. his set was certainly the best show i've seen all year and his album is most definitely my favorite album of the year. hands down.

Most Serene and The Rosebuds were both out of control awesome. Like Dean and Britta's album but didn't anyone else find them quite the bore to watch live?

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2007 11:42 AM

most serene was a disappointing mess. the girl kept singing off key, not that singing off key is always bad, but in this case it was. rosebuds had awesome energy. liked them most when they played the older stuff. dean and britta were a bit boring though they rocked the closing song "ceremony." voxtrot was not as bad as i thought they would be, after hearing so many negative things about they're live show. they weren't very memorable either. i left three songs in to their set and the room was already half empty.

people are fucking retarded.

dean and britta = so boring it hurt - even dean looked bored out of his fucking mind (and he was on stage with britta, who is a babe)

rosebuds
...no seriously, write another "lalala", "wooh", "oh oh oh" chorus....oh and stop singing everything flat.

I was only there to see Miracle Fortress
(thanks for wasting my fucking night...and my money)

oh, and the person commenting on Voctrot above "they're live show", are you 8? "their" live show....as in, to show posession. Not "they are live show is supposed to be lame (which it is)"

anonymous 12:25 is a bitter douche bag who obviously doesn't (does not) make room for grammatical errors or typos. go hide away in a shack, you bitter misanthrope. i feel sorry for whoever had the unfortunate experience of having to go to the show with you, though i'm guessing you probably were there by yourself. douch bag.

thanks for not one but three negative posts anon 12:25

you are -truly- the one who is, as you put it "fucking retarded."

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2007 12:39 PM

yeah people are so retarded they have to post the same comment 3 times cause they can't figure out how to do it, ha!
Show was sweet from start to finish last night. Nobody disappointed other than Most Serene, highlights were start and end...Bon Iver was amazing and Voxtrot played one of the better sets I've seen of them.

I cannot believe that people would have differing opinions about music (or art in general). What happened to the cooler than thou hipster sheep who all baaaa'ed in agreement with each other? You mean to tell me that some people loved the show while others didn't? Anarchy is the only imagineable next step here. Bushwick will burn (again).

I wuz shaking to The Shaky Hands. Dug their set and picked up the CD and t-shirt afterwards. Wifey was also digging Shaky Hands' Adonis-like slide-guitarist/percussionist (stage right).

the drummer for most serene was freaking hot. too bad their set wasn't.

most serene republic does suck. definitely too much hype around these guys.

anyone knows what time Springsteen hits the stage? I cant be there before 8 pm, but the ticket says 7:30. So did he go on after 8 last week?

Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2007 2:01 PM

Garden told me on at 7;45 off at 10:15

Posted by Bill | October 17, 2007 3:13 PM

oh goddamn, ok thanks, i will have to cut out early

Bon Iver has an incredibly powerful voice. It was definitely worth getting there early to see him. Plus, he was hilarious.

Go check him out at this other show if you can.

"Bon Iver has an incredibly powerful voice."

Bon Iver was all echo and pedals. It's all production. Smoke and mirrors ala Brian Wilson and more recently Besnard Lakes. I like it but he hardly has a powerful voice.

Posted by Steak & Broccoli | October 17, 2007 4:24 PM

Hey from Pianos.

We moved Bon Iver to the main stage. He goes on around 6:15 now. Free. come now. bye

Posted by brooklynvegan | October 17, 2007 5:21 PM

please substitute powerful voice with beautifully transcendent voice then. bon iver was the highlight of bowery and pianos.
