The official BrooklynVegan CMJ showcase at Bowery Ballroom is just one day away. This one:
BrooklynVegan CMJ showcase @ Bowery BallroomA few tickets are still on sale. There may also be some at the door, or you can use your CMJ badge.
October 16, 2007, NYC (the whole lineup)
6pm - Bon Iver ("recommended")
7pm - The Shaky Hands (not to be confused with...)
8pm - Miracle Fortress (those crazy Canadians)
9pm - Most Serene Republic (those crazy not actually Canadians)
10pm - Dean & Britta (Luna)
11pm - The Rosebuds (dance party)
12am - Voxtrot
I've also just finally put up an RSVP & flyer for the Saturday night (October 20th) afterparty I'm doing with David Bruno. We're still working out drink specials (hopefully open bar) and possibly one more artist for the bill, but anyway, check it out.
And then there are the three free day parties (no list, no RSVP, no badges necessary). That's what the flyer you see pictured above is all about. It says "returns" because my cornball tagline last year was "takes over the Lower East Side". The back of the flyer (which is being sent to the printer right now) has the scehdule, and you can view the most up to date version (with all 5 lineups), below.....
unofficial (click for a larger version)

Drink specials, DJs, and the one spot labeled "TBA" are all still being worked out. This post was supposed to say "open Svedka bar" including free (vegan) (not virgin) bloody marys at all day parties, but those final details are still being worked out, so (alcohol-drinking people) just keep your fingers crossed.
Stay tuned for more details (as usual!).
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(a brief summary of the times and places of these five parties is here)

Hi, I'm new to Brooklyn Vegan dot com. Which are the must-see shows? Or should I just go to all of them?
Posted by Nate | October 15, 2007 11:47 AM
All of them, Nate. Go to all of them.
I'm really liking this Minus The Bear song. It reminds me of Axe Riverboy. Now if he was at CMJ I would die happy. Check him out if you haven't!

Voxtrot sucks.
Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2007 6:14 PM
is voxtrot really -that- bad. seems like they get a lot of hate... never seen them before.
Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2007 6:21 PM
Out of 5 shows you're throwing only one isn't 21+? Come on BV, show some love for the kids.
Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2007 7:00 PM
bowery is also 18+
Posted by brooklynvegan | October 15, 2007 7:12 PM

that flyer is 3 day shows - 2 of them have 2 floors. One of them is 18+
the first show is bowery. (tix @ Ticketmater). 18+
the last show is @ 205. (RSVP above) 21+
Posted by brooklynvegan | October 15, 2007 7:18 PM

brooklynvegan: preventing kids from experiencing music, 5 (?) years running

brooklynvegan: providing tasteless kids with music that otherwise you would never have had access to because your older brother still listens to van halen... 5 (?) years running...
...Mike3000... grow up quick. get a fake id. sneak in. grease the security.
damn. kids today. they have it waaaay to easy.
Posted by Christopher | October 16, 2007 6:28 AM
Plus, it has been 5 years...you STILL a kid?!?
Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2007 2:02 PM
awesome, LESV!
Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2007 2:08 PM
It's a school night kids! stay home, stay in school, dont be a fool
also say NO to drugs...i mean, say NO THANK YOU..
at least until u are 22
Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2007 2:21 PM
hey kids, (and BV haters, because some of his shows are 21+), he's not keeping you from doing anything. These shows are at bars. where they serve alcohol. this is how it works. so go do something for yourself once, (and get a fake or find a way into the show) instead of calling out BV. its pathetic. and you know what MIKE3000, all age venues and toddp shows are great, but not everyone can do that.

if you are under 21, fuck you
i went to high school and college, and dont want to see any of you tiny self-absorbed wannabes at my current social events
find somewhere else to text message all your little buddies
Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2007 2:58 PM
wouldnt kids rather sit at home on myspace anyway?
Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2007 3:00 PM
i just saw voxtrot last night, and yes, they are boring as fuck.
Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2007 6:02 PM
thanks for the show bv. i had a great time. wish you had gone up to the stage so we could all see ya and thank you properly.
Posted by Anonymous | October 17, 2007 1:37 AM
do you need a cmj badge for the party?
Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2007 4:16 PM
No u dont need a stinkin' badge for BV's parties..
he is a man of the people
Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2007 4:22 PM
Don't hate, not everyone in high school is fucking annoying (although the majority usually proves the above statement wrong...). Trust me, I don't like much high schoolers either, there's a few alright kids! Give us a chance.
Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2007 6:20 PM
do you just show up to the rbar thing tomorrow??
Posted by Anonymous | October 18, 2007 8:57 PM
Please stop destroying music and New York.

Just shot down there in the rain to catch FFG. It was good. Hard to readjust to reality now. I think they are running a 1/2 hour behind which is good because i'm going back for Black Kids.
