DANZIG fell, hurt himself. show Saturday? or JENS Lekman?
DOWNLOAD: Danzig - Blood & Tears (MP3)
DOWNLOAD: Jens Lekman - A Higher Power (MP3)

I want to go see Danzig at Nokia Theatre really bad on Saturday (Oct 27). I want to see Jens Lekman at Webster though really bad too. Neither is a once-in-a-lifetime situation - I see Danzig almost every time he's here, and I saw Jens this summer in Norway, and I can see Jens again on Sunday at Music Hall (but that's solo). hmmm.
Well, the decision might be made for me anyway. Danzig fell off the stage at a show in Baltimore Tuesday night, played in an arm sling Wednesday night in Philly, and completely cancelled tonight's show in Worcester, Massachusets (Oct 25). No word yet on whether he'll cancel any more shows. All tour dates, and a video of him getting back on the stage after falling, below....
Danzig - 2007 Tour Dates
10/23/07 - Baltimore, MD @ RAMS HEAD LIVE [WHERE HE FELL]
10/24/07 - Philadelphia, PA @ ELECTRIC FACTORY [PLAYED IN A SLING]

It's okay to laugh at Danzig's face plant, right?

Pretty much the worst decision you could ever make in life would be choosing Danzig over Jens Lekman.
Posted by Greg | October 26, 2007 12:44 AM
Fuck! I have tix for the show and I haven't seen Danzig since about '92 so I was pretty excited. Greg, whether or not you're a fan of Danzig the band keep in mind Danzig the man was the front man for the Misfits! The fucking Misfits homes! Show some fucking respect, seriously how can you choose Jens whatever over a living legend?
Posted by Matt | October 26, 2007 1:28 AM
Uh, You can choose Jens because he makes much better music than Danzig. It's actually pretty easy, ho(l)mes.
Posted by Yeah | October 26, 2007 1:56 AM
You obviously will be at Jens Lekman. I would if I could.

bullet 7">>>>any jens lp

Jens Lekman is bad 70's AM radio---a new Gerry Rafferty or Al Stewart. Seriously, how could you listen to such shit? Oh yeah, I forgot, you're also a Belle & Sebastian fan. Yeeech!
Posted by TWB | October 26, 2007 7:08 AM
Wow, Jens Lekman, indie hipster favorite of the moment! You'll all have forgotten about him within, what, a month? Isn't that the standard life cycle for "indie darling"?
And, yeah, Danzig actually has two decades of work under his considerable belt, and much of it is considered classic. Thanks.

Hey thanks for making sense of it all. Give yourself a pat on the back.
Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 9:39 AM
Lekman's voice sounds like an american idol audition.
Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 9:41 AM
Jens Lekman makes Belle and Sebastian look like Rage Against the Machine.

I wish I could see Danzig, but I'll probably see the Danzig-less Misfits next month. However I was at Jens Lekman's first show of this American Tour and it was unbelieveable. He played 5 shows that day and I was there for the last 2....the all-out concert and the after party. I posted a little review, photos and video of the performance on my blog http://www.backseatsandbar.com

Let's cool it with the belle & sebastian bashing, shall we?

Fridays are meant to rock out, not to listen to warmed over sensitive bullshit. Stick with Danzig (if he plays) or hey, Magic Markers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BbUaumgV_A

Danzig is a punk bitch who got knocked the fuck out. He will never be looked at the same again. He has short people syndrome.

I'll be seeing Jens tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday.
Posted by Metal/Is/For/Retards | October 26, 2007 10:41 AM
can i choose neither? Is that still an option? I choose LIFE!
Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 10:50 AM
I, no joke, have Glenn Danzig's home address tattooed on my ankle. Not saying that makes either one better, but is there anyone in the world that can say that about Jens Lekman?
Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 10:54 AM
No, they can't, 'cause Jens is homeless.

Fist off, cut out the Danzig bashing. He is a true legend. Nobody on earth will care about Jens whatever in 10 years.
My friends went to the Philly show, the injury is apparently getting to him, as he is cutting the Misfits stuff really short, and focusing on the 'Lost Tracks of Danzig', which aren't all that great.
I saw Danzig with Doyle in NJ last year, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. He stuck to the stellar material, only played a couple that weren't on the first three, and played many Misfits songs with Doyle, even a Samhain song as well

"Nobody on earth will care about Jens whatever in 10 years. "
Nobody will care about Jens in 10 months! The sheepsters will move on to whoever Pitchfork hypes next.
Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 11:45 AM
I might as well be the one to say that people will care about Jens in 10 years. that is all.

Kinda inspiring to see an older gentleman get right back up after a tumble.
I actually didn't know about Jens until this post...
seems kinda shitty.
Posted by Evan | October 26, 2007 12:15 PM
Word is they're playing the Nokia gig...
Posted by bob | October 26, 2007 12:22 PM
jens may seem like the flavor of the month but that's just because he's getting a lot of press for his NEW ALBUM, which is not his first but the most recent in a decent string of EPs and a couple of previous studio albums.
also i would say he's more like stephen merritt/the magnetic fields than belle and sebastian, if we're going to be making weak comparisons all day. HA
Posted by klk | October 26, 2007 1:29 PM
jens is definitely more like stephen merritt than b+s

Jen Lekman is like a Clay Aiken that can play the guitar.

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 2:38 PM
did that dude really call Danzig a gentleman?
Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 4:29 PM
Jens played the best show ever.
Posted by Greg | October 28, 2007 3:00 AM
Yeah Jens was really really awesome. Or, AWES as the cool kids say. He was smiling the whole show too, even when the obnoxious "techno" music started playing and the bass was thumping the floor.
Wish I could go to Williamsburg tonight, but alas I cannot.
Posted by Joshua | October 28, 2007 12:18 PM
hey hey let's stop this now, they're both different and they're both great. and lets stop with the jens bashing...he's swedish aka he's wonderful.
p.s. I will still play jens in 20 years
Posted by ington | October 28, 2007 1:21 PM
Jens who?
Posted by Anonymous | October 28, 2007 1:39 PM
Yeah. Jens was spectacular last night. I even dig the way he moves. He was so funny last night that I got convinced of seeing him tonight again.
Posted by Eduardo | October 28, 2007 7:12 PM
anyone have the setlist for Jens' williamsburg show? the first song of the first encore was a remarkable cover and i really want to know what that song was.
Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2007 11:29 AM
"p.s. I will still play jens in 20 years"
I bet you don't even play Phoenix and Tapes 'n Tapes anymore although they probably were you favorite bands last year.
Good singer, but face it, he is a hipster flavor of the month.
Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2007 12:01 PM
Jens has been ripping for years now. The dude is really young, but has been around long enough to put out two solid albums and enough EPs to fill another two albums. It's lame to hate on a guy just because the blogg losers finally got to him.
Posted by Anonymous | October 30, 2007 12:16 AM
um actually "anonymous" I never listened to Phoenix or Tapes 'n Tapes to begin with, I'm not a fucking hipster nor will I ever be and I liked Jens before punks like you even heard of him and dubbed him a "flavor of the month"
way to be a jerk for NO reason
jens is/was amazing at the Williamsburg show...I'd watch him play every week
FOR THE NEXT 20 yearssss
so there
