DATAROCK - Fa Fa Fa on Kimmel (video) & playing CMJ
So basically I got really into Datarock there for a second, but then i saw them at SXSW and that excitement turned into almost complete disinterest. Maybe after watching their recent appearance on Kimmel you'll understand why (unless you've already seen them live in which case you may already agree with me, but then again maybe not).
That video, and tour dates, below....
Datarock - 2007 Tour Dates
12 Oct Palladium Ballroom- With Perry Ferrel Dallas TX
18 Oct The Gramercy Theater New York New York (CMJ)
19 Oct Polly Esthers Las Vegas NV
20 Oct Red Bull Academy (Kool Haus) W/ M.I.A Toronto ON
10 Nov Galpoes Savoy Sao Paulo Brazil
5 Dec Avalon Hollywood CA

caught their act at johhny brenda's in phila., pa several weeks ago. drunken, long in the tooth, late to come onstage, futzed around for 45 minutes when they finally did get onstage. packed house though and when they did eventually play "hits" people in the club enjoyed.

out of the 80 or so bands I saw at SXSW this past March...can easily say without question they were the worst.

Thank you both. I was really considering the Thursday night show but will skip it now. It's going to be a long week of shows, I don't know the venue, and if you both were underwhelmed I will wait until they come back to NY and play a different venue.

I had the same experience when I say them in the spring at Studio B...was really looking forward to the show and just found it completely underwhelming...just kind of cheeky fun...a bit gimmicky.

That looked pretty fun actually.

I don't see why everyone hates on them. I saw them back in Feb. in Miami; they were opening for the whole Ed Banger and friends conglomerate so almost no one was there when they went on but they all seemed into it. A couple people asked who they were and my girlfriend bought their album the next day. Maybe they were all on drugs and maybe I'm still on drugs but I think they're pretty good.

That looked like a good performance.
Beats Justice's Jimmy Kimmel debut.

i dunno. they do suck. but are they even trying to be good? i think they'll do just fine without us brooklynites giving them any love. they could make a living just playing la.

OK...I could have done without the silly guitar solo and audience sing-a-long bit in "Fa, Fa, Fa" (and the 2nd song altogether) but overall they have a sorta jittery Happy Mondays vibe that I kinda dig...and the drummer is kicking some ass!

this is about 1,000x better than Klaxons on Conan. I don't understand what's bad about this? Sing along on a talk show? YEAH! Matching track suits like the video...played their "hit"...at least they were interesting to watch and the drummer kills.

What's bad about this, is after you've seen them play Fa Fa Fa, there's nothing left.

their songs are mediocre on recordings, so how would one expect them to sound great live?

They suck live and they suck on tv...watered down poser music at it's worst.
