Please tell me we haven't went to the level of Perez Hilton. I'm all for Feist, but come on.

To the first commenter:
What?

Its funny the apple commercial was the first time in my entire life possibly ever that I have seen my mom show interest in music.

Posted by MikeC | October 2, 2007 3:57 PM

uh oh, next thing you know, hipsters will boycott her concerts since she's a sellout. haha

good for her. too bad it happened to an adult contemporary song. but i guess maybe that's why it happened?

Posted by sellout | October 2, 2007 3:57 PM

fyi - new buffalo penned 1234 & she is supporting stars (A&C label) on stars philly gig.

Posted by lemmiwinks | October 2, 2007 3:59 PM

oh that feist. she is everywhere these days.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 4:01 PM

MikeC - HAHA! I was going to say the same thing about my dad: "what is this, it is interesting".

I'm happy for her success.

Way to post weeks old news.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 4:04 PM

when are we going to see Iron & Winw on TV commercials? That beard is H-O-T!

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 4:09 PM

feist is terrible. crap.

Posted by erik | October 2, 2007 4:10 PM

It is impossible to watch football on Sundays without hearing that goddamn song. I can't take it anymore. It's almost to the level of "Our Country," but at least that is middling roots rock, where as this is polite, boring, soulless cocktail party pap.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 4:13 PM

Who can blame her ? It's pretty much what you have to do these days if you really want to get to the next level & it's relevent product for a musician to sell. That commercial shows like 50 times a day nationwide, she's getting heard & selling records. It's better than trying to take her songs directly to big radio stations.. that's nearly impossible... now though she has a way in..

Posted by RT | October 2, 2007 4:14 PM

iron & wine covering "such great heights" was featured on an m&m's commercial. no beard footage though.

if feist could write more than 1 or 2 good songs she'd be really fantastic.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 4:18 PM

Well, at least she didn't sell her song to McDonald's for the million she was offered.

Posted by Kelly | October 2, 2007 4:20 PM

Who?

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 4:23 PM

Don't endorse, promote or publicize massive douche-nozzles such as Perez.

THE DREAM IS STILL ALIVE
SOME DAY IT WILL COME TRUE
AND THIS COUNTRY, IT BELONGS
TO FOLKS LIKE ME AND YOU
SO LET THE VOICE OF FREEDOM
SING OUT THROUGH THIS LAND...

THIS IS OUR COUNTRY.

one two three four tell me that you love more morzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 4:54 PM

Anytime an "artist" puts counting in a song, you know they're aiming for the pop charts. It doesn't get any simpler than this. (Except for whistling, PB&J).

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 5:01 PM

jenny i've got your number 8675319 - ha! try to get that outta your head now.

Posted by lemmiwinks | October 2, 2007 5:15 PM

I. HATE. THAT. FUCKING. SONG.

Posted by FRX | October 2, 2007 5:24 PM

i like it

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 5:45 PM

You know how everyone remember the band Extreme as the piece of shit that gave us that "More than Words" song, instead of a band that totally shredded? Ok, they're still a shitty hair metal, but if you ignore that one ballad and check out the rest of their stuff, you'll see that they had some serious chops...... Well, Feist has serious chops too, and this song sure is pretty, but it's a double edged sword that'd take her on the same "extreme" path.... Hope she made enough money from these ad's that it doesn't matter....

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 6:00 PM

i like that you used the band Extreme to make a pretty cogent analogy.

good job, other anonymous person.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 7:09 PM

hey lemmiwinks, you got the wrong number for jenny...it's 867-5309....i recommend you don't go on "the singing bee".

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 7:11 PM

Extreme II: Pornografitti was the best... Nuno is god.

Posted by Lando C. | October 2, 2007 7:19 PM

its the shins all over again. good for her. she has good music - even if others write most of it. i saw her at town hall 5 rows up 1st night retail price. i am awesome. i am also goign to blow my effing brains out if i see that damn commercial again. i work in advertising - way too many GRPs - whoa nelly! oo doesnt that sound like a stephin merrit / magnetic fields song?!?! i can here him crooning it now...

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 8:01 PM

America, FUCK YEAH!
Coming again, to save the motherfucking day yeah,
America, FUCK YEAH!
Freedom is the only way, yeah,
Terrorists your game is through / 'cuz now you have to answer to...

America, FUCK YEAH!
So lick my butt, and suck on my balls!

America, FUCK YEAH!
What you gonna do when we come for you now?
It's the dream that we all share, it's the hope for tomorrow,

FUCK YEAH!

Is that Natalie Portman's official site and if so, why is it hosting that Feist mp3?

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2007 8:24 PM

i'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the fact that feist is featured in more than JUST the apple advert. she's also in a verizon, jcpenny's (or macy's), lacoste, hsbc, and an ebay advert.

Posted by anonymous | October 3, 2007 9:42 AM

Foist

Posted by slim | October 3, 2007 11:28 AM

my dad can't stand the sea lion cover....but i think he's just jealous. it's a jamming track that pays ode to the fantasicaly fantastic nina simone.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2007 12:36 PM

Her "music" is fucking awful.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2007 7:39 PM

Extreme III was my fave. I saw them in concert once, and Nuno did an acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and piano solo. All of them amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2007 8:04 PM

'1234' isn't the best song but listen to "So Sorry"(album opener on 'The Reminder') and tell me if Feist isn't just wonderful.

Posted by mike | October 3, 2007 8:51 PM

Fuck the backlash, it's so fucking tired to keep kicking bands/musicians when they have a bit of exposure, it's not like she hasn't put the years in playing all manner of shithole's to get to this point.

And it's fucking great to see someone finally breaking through just because the record she made is so good, not because she's in the press with no pants on, or in and out of rehab, or because she's particularly attractive.

Feist's recent success has given me a tiny vestige of faith that talent will come through sometimes on word of mouth etc... a bit of play here, a shit load of blog action, and then breakthrough.

I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I know a good record when I hear one, and "The Reminder" is one the best albums in years.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2007 7:57 AM

someone else noted it, but it was never answered. anyone know why feist's mp3 la meme histoire is hosted by natalie portman's website?

DO NOT WANT

Posted by lolcat | October 7, 2007 10:30 PM

She's the musical guest on SNL this week. (Brian Williams of NBC News is the guest host.) I have tickets but I'm not interested.
