Nice job adding the Meat Puppets on the 17th. I'll be there with my microphones.

Umm...did CMJ take the year off with bands? Honestly, it gets worse every year. People are sending a lot of money to come see these bands. Get better bands! Maybe you can help out BV.

Judging by the list of bands playing this year - the CMJ festival appears to be having a very off year. What is going on?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I've been complaining about the quality of the CMJ lineup for a while, always assuming there'd be some last minute announcements that made me look silly. Guess not.

Going Blind is a cover off Ace Frehley's KISS solo album. Good shit.

cmj has become completely irrelevant.

Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2007 10:20 AM

agree. CMJ is irrelevant. Gets worse every year. venues always sell out and unorganized, as always.

the maccabees are one of the greatest new bands on this side of sex. this side being the straight side.

I thought that The Epochs were playing R Bar that night? I was planning on going, but I don't really care for those other bands. Black Kids don't sound that hot, to me...

did you guys hear about the CMJ scandal? That all these bands that submitted and paid $45...half of them didnt even get listened to? CMJ IS A RACKET. My band is playing 6 shows that week and we didn't submit to and pay the fee at all. Total SCAM.

"I thought that The Epochs were playing R Bar that night? I was planning on going, but I don't really care for those other bands."

You're in luck! The Epochs are playing ON THE 18TH, not the 19th.

the only scandal is the fact that bands thought paying $45 would get them in a showcase. wake up folks, cmj is about the money. look at the charts and the cd that comes with the magazine. placement equals money. cmj has been relevant for awhile now.

what bands do you all think should be playing and aren't? or is it the bands that are playing you don't like? cause i don't even know what 90% of these bands sound like, so i wouldn't know if the marathon sucks or not. well, i know it sucks, but that is sociologically, not musically. and that is no different than the past decade or so at least.
